Class 2B News
February 24, 2015
From Ms. Jackie
Hello Families,
The children have been continuing to work hard over the month of February. As the dry season continues and the weather heats up, please remember to send your child to school with their hat and water bottle everyday.
Here's what we're learning in class:
Reading
We had a great time last week reading books by our visiting author, Margriet Ruus. Our focus for the next couple of weeks will be exploring book series. This is a great time to encourage children to find a new author or series that they love.
Writing
We continuing our work with persuasive writing. This unit is also allowing students to review and practice paragraph writing in a different context. Keep having those debates at home, and be sure that your child can support or defend their opinion!
Math
This week, we began Unit 8, Fractions. Our work will focus on identifying and showing halves, thirds, and fourths, and on understanding the relationship between equivalent fractions.
Unit of Inquiry
We continue to explore Inventions and Inventors. As the children learn more about how inventors come up with ideas, they will begin documenting their own ideas for inventions.
2B will be doing a short presentation at our next ES assembly. This K-5 assembly will be held on Friday, March 6 at 8:15 in the amphitheater. Our presentation will be centered on March's ICS Learner Trait "Thinker". We hope that you can make it.
