Week 9, T3 2022
23/9/22 - He Pānui Wiki Iwa, Whānga Tuatoru
Tēnā koutou katoa (hello everyone)
Ka mau te wehi (awesome)! What a week. I was so proud to see 'Team Gladdy' pull together once again to create what was undoubtedly a wonderful 'Gladdy's Got Talent - Season 3'. The show has highlighted the fantastic talent we have here at our kura (school) along with providing our creative tamariki the opportunity to showcase their individual skills. Kia ora Mr Brown & the Year 8's for doing such a super job of planning, organising and running the show. Also a big shout out to our kaiako (teachers) for designing their class items - all of which were super cool. We also acknowledge the part whānau have played in the background organising costumes, transport and support - you are brilliant.
Some whānau wonder why we have the production over 3 nights. We realise that it is a big ask for families, their children and staff to commit to 3 shows. We have received comments about having the show on 1 night and/or at the complex. The complex is problematic. There is a limit of 200 people - we are 170 kids + 15 staff and this wouldn't allow for an audience. Stage facilities, lighting and backstage waiting areas ie. classrooms are limited at best. Transporting kids over there for practices would be costly and impractical. For us, 3 nights is not about making money, it's about providing enough opportunity for all of our whānau to come and see the show. As always we are open to reviewing our systems and processes, but for the time being we are sticking with productions at school.
Selection of GGT Photos - More to Come
Exciting News...
A second, updated reminders notice is coming home this afternoon. It has key dates for things that are happening in the next few school weeks. We understand that there are a number of people who don't seem to know what is happening - some not knowing that there was a production on - so we are trying to work out how we can plug the gaps here. Please talk to friends and family to check that they are linked in with our key forms of communication detailed below.
