March 2016

What's Happening?

March was a busy month in the LaRue Miller LMC. Students recorded six hours of recreational reading and turned in their Six Flags Read to Succeed Reading Logs. These students will be rewarded with a Six Flags ticket at the awards ceremony at the end of the school year. The Miller Bluebonnet Team participated in the MISD Bluebonnet Book Bowl on March 10, and brought home the trophy. Congratulations to the Miller Bluebonnet Team for winning this competition! Kindergarten classes learned about Dr. Seuss and celebrated his birthday while 1st grade students concluded an author study of Jan Brett. 2nd grade students researched information on Helen Keller, and used Google Docs to share their information with each other. 3rd grade students were treated to stories written and read by FSMS students. Many 4th grade students have used the Britannica Schools online encyclopedia to help them research information about weather. 5th grade used this same resource to research inventors. They shared their information with their teacher through Google classroom. 5th grade has also embarked upon their Genre Passport Reading.
