Joyfully Embracing Our Mission
St. Clare School Family Newsletter | 25 October 2018
Jesus is calling you.
"Take courage; get up, Jesus is calling you."
He threw aside his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus.
~ Mark 10
Dear St. Clare School Families,
The work we have begun continues in earnest in the next few weeks as we look towards the end of the first trimester.
Consider this quote from "Grit" by Angela Duckworth:
"Talent is how quickly your skills improve when you invest effort.
Achievement is what happens when you take your acquired skills and use them.
But effort factors into the calculations twice, not once. Effort builds skill. At the very same time, effort makes skill productive."
Let's help our students develop grit, in order that their true potential is realized. We appreciate your continued partnership.
HOMEWORK HOUR AT CKZ
St. Clare School offers a vibrant after-school care program. Students are provided a quiet place to work independently on homework. When homework is completed, they may read, write or draw quietly from 3-4 P.M. Some teachers offer homework assistance during this period.
THANK YOU MISS AYSHA AND MISS ALONDRA!
We wish Miss Aysha and Miss Alondra well as they explore other opportunities outside of St. Clare School. We thank them for their service and hope to see them in the summer at CKZ!
LUNCHMASTERS TERMINATES ST. CLARE SERVICE
Because of our low volume of lunch order of 10-18 lunches per day, Lunchmasters has given notice that they are no longer be able to serve us. Their last lunch service will be October 31st. We will continue to look for options. In the meantime, please plan accordingly.
REUSE, REDUCE, RECYCLE!
St. Clare School is learning how to segment garbage so that our food scraps are kept from our garbage and recycling. We are reducing our garbage bin size from 4 cu. yards to 2 cu. yards because we are separating recycling and food scraps from garbage. We are called to reduce waste as stewards of God's creation.
HALLOWEEN HAPPENING
We are looking forward to our Halloween party beginning with a parade on Washington Street at 1:30 P.M. Students may change into costumes at lunch. NO scary or gory masks, bloody and grotesque make-up, or weapons or items that can be used as weapons and costumes that would scare 4 year olds. Costumes must be modest and appropriate for a Catholic elementary school. If you're not sure if your costume is appropriate, it's probably not. Can you guess what our teachers will be this year?
The Halloween Party for Grades TK-5 begins immediately in the elementary yard while the Middle School students will have a dance in the hall.
ALTAR SERVER TRAINING
Altar Server training begins for students in grades 5 & 6 on November 14 during the school day. Students in grade 4 will be trained in December.

Calling all International Chefs!
The 5th annual Multicultural Dinner is coming to St. Clare on Friday November 16th! Last year's event was at capacity and our planning team is working on new ideas. If you would like to serve this event by cooking your favorite cultural dish to share on this evening, please reserve a spot by emailing Sigrid Jacobsen, sigridmike@hotmail.com. Families are asked to provide 100 (small) servings of their dish and receive service hours for all time spent shopping, preparing, cooking, and serving. This is a wonderful way to get service hours from your home, doing what you love. More details to follow!
