Principal's Message
Thank you to all families for attending parent teacher conferences. We are grateful for your commitment to your child’s education and the opportunity to celebrate the growth of your child(ren) with you. At conferences many parents asked, what can I do to support my child at home? Studies have shown if a student reads 20 minutes a day at home starting in kindergarten, they will hear 1.8 million words per year. They will have read for 851 hours by sixth grade and will likely score better than 90% of their peers on standardized tests. Reading to children also aides in language development, widening vocabulary in the process. So dive into a great book and get the whole family reading this month!
This fall, teachers worked in teams to analyze the beginning of school year data and then used the data to plan and drive their instruction and plan interventions. In January, students will repeat the fall assessments and teachers will be able to analyze the school-wide data and individual growth of students, reflect on their instructional practices, and plan for individual student and classroom needs. We can't wait to celebrate the growth with you again!
Thanksgiving is drawing near, reminding us all that we have so much to be thankful for at Woodfield Elementary School and in the community of Waterford. We have a beautiful building that is filled with children who are excited about learning and a dedicated staff who work diligently to make learning meaningful and fun! Thank you for sharing your child(ren) with us each day.
Sincerely,
Jessica Grimm
