Service Hours message from Ms. sellmer
You will receive your last notification regarding your Service Hours on Monday, May 29. Please note the Community Service Form (front & back) is part of the requirement. The completed form needs to be given to either Mrs. Wood or myself by 4:00 p.m.; Friday, June 2. If you would like to mail it to the school, that is fine, but it needs to be postmarked June 2, 2017. Others will not be accepted.
If you do not complete the required Service Hours by the due date, you will not be able to participate in extra-curricular activities (clubs/sports); with the exception of CAP. Your driving privileges (to and from school) will also be revoked for the 2017-2018 school year.
For those, who have completed...CONGRATULATIONS!!! If you want to get a jump start on the 2017-2018 school year...hours documented from June 3, 2017 will count.

ESSAY Contest
essay contest for high school students in the five states within the
circuit. The contest offers students an opportunity to learn about the
Constitution and Bill of Rights and a chance to win cash prizes.
The theme, "Access to Justice," asks students to consider and share their
thoughts on the question: "What does access to justice mean to you and how
do the Constitution and Bill of Rights enable this access?"
The essay contest is open to high school students (grades 9 through 12) in
Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Essays are limited to 1,000 words and must be emailed to
essaycontest@ca4.uscourts.gov by June 16, 2017.
Cash prizes of $2,000 (first place), $1,500 (second place), and $1,000
(third place) will be awarded for the top three essays.
In announcing the contest, the Honorable Roger L. Gregory, Chief Judge of
the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, stated, "As long as we
remain focused on promoting young citizens' understanding of the
Constitution, it will remain a powerful instrument for ensuring the
stability of our government and the liberty of the governed."
Attached is a flyer for the contest. For more information and the contest
