Immersion Education – Teaching academic content in another language
Hello Fronteras Families!
As we wind down the year, things kick into high gear! Can you believe we are nine school days away from summer vacation?
Thank you to everyone who continues to volunteer in our classrooms and on field trips! Our next big need is Field Day. In order to have the Dunk Tank and Adventure Run, we need about eight more adults to volunteer time to supervise both activities. If we do not have volunteers in place, we will have to cancel those stations. Please call the front desk to add your name to the sign-up sheet. Again this year, the school is providing all lunch foods. Please come and enjoy!
Upcoming events to look forward to:
· May 13th – Q4 Assembly & Student Showcase @ 9am & 1pm 1st-8th Music performances
· May 18th – Fronteras Drama Community performance @ 3:30pm
· May 20th – Fronteras Drama School performance @ 9:30am
· May 21st – Kindergarten Graduation @ 1pm K Music performance
· May 22nd – 8th Grade Promotion @ 1pm Middle School Music performance
· May 23rd – FIELD DAY & LAST DAY FOR STUDENTS! 9:00-1:30pm
Have a wonderful weekend!
Most Sincerely,
Mrs. Hutchins
“Be so happy that when others look at you, they become happy too.”
We were treated to a surprise visit by CKH Senior Leadership Solutions Executive, Vern Hazard of the Flippen Group, April 24th. Vern stopped into Fronteras to Congratulate us on being named a CKH National Showcase School three years in a row!
Please Check-In!
Library Corner
The Fronteras Library volunteers are wrapping up the library for the year. This week is the last week to check out books. Now is the time to return any outstanding library books to the school. If you have lost a book and have exhausted your search (including looking in classrooms, and have double checked home and the library), we ask for $7.00 or a replacement of the lost book (new or used). Books can be placed in the library return box outside the library or the front desk. Checked out book slips are going home this week with your student. Thank you for your support for the library!
Thank you,

Synergy Student Information System!
The Matanuska Susitna Borough School District is migrating to a new student information system (SIS) called Synergy for the 2019-2020 school year. This change in our SIS will better support education for MSBSD students. Our current system, SchoolMAX (iParent/iStudent), has become static and its functionality will not improve in the future. Our new SIS is responsive and will evolve with the changing needs of K-12 education and of our District. Transitioning to Synergy allows us to create a more user-friendly platform and optimize operating costs while we continue to focus on quality education for all students. Online registration will begin in early July 2019 and the District will reach out directly to families when registration is open. For additional information visit www.matsuk12.us/synergy or contact Reese Everett/Dina Henderson in the Office of Instruction 746-9212.”
