2's Are Wild!
First some heavy stuff, then we will end lighter.
- Two people can take any two data points and sometimes come to two completely different conclusions. That is okay. As long as the two people agree to have an open conversation and respect differences.
- Superintendent Ziegler is bringing in a second set of eyes to examine LCPS safety protocols. I am looking forward to hearing the results and continuing to build back trust in our community.
- Two weeks ago, we had our second student-led walkout since I have been principal at Seneca Ridge. I did not reach out because this was something happening in high schools to draw awareness to the victims of sexual assaults. We did have Dominion students walk, but no students from Seneca. As was the case 5 years ago, students worked ahead of time with administrators, respectfully shared their voice, then went back to class with no consequences. In both situations, I was proud of the maturity and insightfulness of the students in our cluster.
- We completed our second parent coffee of the quarter- recording here. Our parents are always so respectful. Thank you for that. It was hard to answer certain questions ambiguously, but a few families followed up with me personally and we were able to have in depth conversations regarding specific questions and what we are doing at Seneca to keep our students safe. Please feel free to reach out if the subject matter is too sensitive for a group conversation. I am happy to call and talk more.
Now for the lighter side of 2.
- The home team is in 2nd place in the NFC East. Their quarterback wears number 1, but he was drafted in the 2nd round 2 years ago. They are aiming for 2 in a row today after beating up on the Lions 44-6. BAM!
- I coach my son's flag football team and with the playoffs starting next weekend, we only had 2 punt 2 times all year. I wish I could say the same for the professional home team.
- The home basketball team won 5 in a row without 2 of their 3 all-stars. They also only have 2 losses.
- Our ice hockey team has only 2 loses and 2 ties, which puts them 1 place ahead of those pesky Capitols :)
- No more silliness- time 2 focus on Seneca. The 2nd quarter is going to be wild! After an action-packed fun-filled adventure of a first quarter, we have 2 big events in the next 2 weeks. Please join us for Paint Night and the Turkey Trot. More to come in the not 2 distant future!
What's the next big activity? PTO Paint Night this Friday!!!

More Seneca Volleyball Celebrations
In keeping with our opening theme- 2’s are wild… Did you know, Seneca had two volleyball championship teams last week? I did not, which is why I only included one picture. I’m happy to hear the good news for the red team. I personally couldn’t be more proud of the grit and determination for both the Seneca teams to win in each of the divisions. GO THUNDERBOLTS!
