Todd's Tidbits
Hooch Community,
This will be our last reminder about the District Annual Parent Perception Survey. Chattahoochee is now currently at 13% of parent participation and the district hopes for all schools to get to 20%. We would like to reach that goal! Please take about 15 minutes to take the anonymous and confidential survey. Annual Parent Perception Survey

Building Routines & Increase Engagement: MAKE TIME TO TALK ABOUT SCHOOL
Make time to talk with your child every day, so he or she knows that what goes on at school is important to you. When kids know parents are interested in their academic lives, they'll take school seriously as well. Because communication is a two-way street, the way you talk and listen to your child can influence how well your child listens and responds. It's important to listen carefully, make eye contact, and avoid multitasking while you chat. Be sure to ask questions that go beyond "yes" or "no" answers. Besides during family meals, good times to talk include car trips (though eye contact isn't needed here, of course), walking the dog, preparing meals, or standing in line at a store. High school years are still an important time for parents to be informed and supportive about their child's education. Help your child succeed in school: Build the Routine of good attendance because Showing up Matters for R.E.A.L.!!

Summer School 2023
Registration is open for both face-to-face Summer School at Northview HS as well as Fulton Virtual! Summer School is required for students who fail an EOC course (Algebra 1, Biology, 11th/American Lit, and US History) and strongly recommended for students who need to retake a failed course. Students taking Summer classes may keep their county-issued laptop and charger until the end of Summer School.
Parents/guardians should check their student’s transcript on Infinite Campus under the Documents tab to see which courses may need to be retaken, both from prior years and this current school year – passing is a 70 or higher. Please also look at your student’s current Spring 2023 semester grades, as well as their total # of earned credits found in the Credit Summary box on their transcript (see promotion requirements below to determine if your student is off-track for graduation). Directions to register are below, and you can find more detailed information in the Naviance email blast that is being sent out to parents of 9th-11th graders today.
Promotion Requirements
As a reminder, students must have earned the following # of credits by August 1, 2023 to be listed in each grade level next school year and to be on track for graduation:
- 10th grade – must have earned 5.0 credits
- 11th grade – must have earned 11.0 credits
- 12th grade – must have earned 17.0 credits

Emerging Leaders Program
What is the Emerging Leaders Program?
The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) offers a unique opportunity for sophomores and juniors from North Fulton high schools who wish to develop leadership skills, identify and address community issues, and interact with local leaders. This is accomplished through a combination of interactive lectures, discussions, site visits, outside activities, community service, and networking opportunities.
This program provides the skills and knowledge for students to be effective leaders in their communities. The program is built around class days with specific topics to be addressed such as healthcare, government, professional development, financial literacy, mock interviews, strength building, public safety, and much more!
Do you have a student at your school that stands out among their peers? Do you see potential in the student that needs to develop their leadership skills? This program is for them!
This year, we have 43 students representing 11 high schools in North Fulton. This program is great for your student to step out of their comfort zone, learn new skills, develop new relationships, and engage in their community.
You can find the application for 2023-24 HERE. Deadline to apply is April 1st (students also need a recommendation letter to apply).
Register for our FREE virtual information session on March 7th HERE.
