June 4, 2021
The last day of school is Thursday, June 10. The middle/high school will dismiss at 11:30.
Dear East Jordan Middle High School Parents,
I am excited to be putting the final touches on the 2020-2021 school year. This was a challenging year and I am so proud of our students, staff and community for their flexibility, patience and support that contributed to the successes of this year. These successes include:
- Building technology skills and gaining experience in online learning. Online learning was already a part of people's lives and will only grow. These experiences range from ORV courses, coaching certifications, professional licensing to full degree programs. Learning how to navigate this environment and be comfortable and successful is an important part of all of our lives.
- Completing our third year of being a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) school. This program helped to maintain and build our school climate in a year when outside factors stressed the system. Having strong foundations, expectations and student understanding/buy-in was a key factor in navigating this year. This system sets the tone for what it means to be a Red Devil; the privileges, expectations and community that accompany East Jordan Middle High School.
- Strong academic programs that allow for students to both prepare for their next stage in life and explore opportunities along the way. I am proud of our fine arts offerings, our Career and Technical Programs and the core classes that provide students the analytical/problem solving and cooperative skills to be successful in a multitude of pathways. East Jordan Middle High School works hard to provide something for everybody.
- A full year of athletics. We were able to offer all of our scheduled sports and get/keep our student athletes competing for each of our scheduled seasons. This was not easy and required MANY adjustments/cancellations/rescheduling and understanding from our athletes and their parents. This was a learning journey and watching our students compete throughout the year was the reward. A special thanks for our Athletic Director - Phyllis Olszewski and her entire coaching staff for persevering to provide this so important component to our middle/high school students. We know athletics contributes to student's classroom success and allows our students to showcase their abilities, learn teamwork and stay active and fit.
I wish you a happy/restful/safe summer and look forward to connecting with all of you in August as we prepare for the 2021-2022 school year.
Go Red Devils!
