Dear Families,

We just completed our fourth week of school. This week we had an unexpected fire drill alarm sound off and I want to commend our students and staff for quickly exiting the building and making sure that all students were accounted for. It was a falsa alarm and all staff moved quickly to make sure students followed our safety protocols.

Our teachers are continuing training with NUA and we had Dr. Stephanie Rome modeling lessons in our second thru fifth grade classes. We are fortunate to have the support from the National Urban Alliance.

We also had our first color day and it was great to see so many students in their grade level colors. Pictures will be updated on this document once we make sure that we have permission to share all images of students.

We continue to focus on Respect as well as making sure all students are safe. Please remind your child about how to show respect in the restroom.

Restroom respect:

Flush the toilet when done.

Place paper towels in the garbage bin.

Close door when using the stall at school and respect each others privacy.

We have had several students clogging our restrooms with paper towels. Please speak to your child about these issues. This especially happens in the boys restroom.

Picture Day

This year we have 2 days for Picture Day so please make sure that you read this message to know which day your child will have their picture taken. Picture day will be a free dress day for the day your child is scheduled. Envelopes were sent home on Friday with your child. You can also order them online see image below.

Superintendent Advisory Council

We are in search of a Taft Parent to be on the Superintendent Advisory Council.

The meetings will be held from 6-8pm on the following dates:
