End of the Year Information
News from the Nurse
Hello Wildfire Families!
What an unusual end to the school year and I hope that you are all doing well.
Even though district nurses have not been seeing and caring for your children in person, we have been busy behind the scenes caring for them by attending nurse webinars and meetings, performing our typical end-of-the year responsibilities, updating all of the district medical protocols to reflect best medical practices, and updating medical forms. We are also staying abreast of COVID-19 developments and working to ensure health safety when we return.
On a personal note, I was married over spring break before everything started shutting down and I am now Royce Hirsh! Please note that my new email is rhirsh@pvlearners.net.
Now for a few health reminders:
Immunizations:
Now, more than ever, we can see the importance of immunizations and protecting ourselves and our children. Returning students needing immunization(s) for compliance purposes must provide proof of immunization prior to or on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 (the first day of school). In accordance with AZ state law and PV District guidelines, students not in compliance on the first day of school will be allowed to attend but will be excluded beginning the second day until proof is received.
Please note that:
Tdap and Meningococcal immunizations are due at age 11. If your child has turned 11 years old and has not yet received these immunizations, or will be turning 11 years old over the summer, he/she will need them before the first day of school. I know that many doctors’ offices may have restricted hours now but as soon as you are able to get an appointment, please do so. You can email proof of immunization to me, have your doctor fax a copy to me at (602) 449-4305, or bring to school.
If you received a previous notice or email from me regarding any other immunizations, for example Hep B or Polio, those immunizations are due asap.
Chronic Conditions
If your child has a chronic health condition (life-threatening allergy, asthma, diabetes, seizure) and will need specific care or medications while at school, please be sure to see me when we return to school so you may complete the necessary forms and drop of any medications. These forms must be completed annually. I cannot yet forward the forms to you as they are all being revised/updated. Please check back with me closer to the first day of school if you would like to “get a jump” on completing the forms. I will be happy to email them to you and I will also post them on my website as soon as I can.
Over-the-Counter Medications
I will continue to offer ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), acetaminophen (Tylenol), Benadryl, and cough drops; however, you must annually sign an over-the-counter medication consent form.
If you have any questions about any of the above, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Looking forward to seeing everyone when we return to school! Stay healthy, stay safe, and if your child develops any new medical issues over the summer, please be sure to inform me.

Yearbook Update/Spring Picture FAQs
Lifetouch Picture FAQs & Answers
Lifetouch has been the Wildfire photography and yearbook partner for several years and we are grateful for all their efforts to support us during the school closure. We have worked together with them to provide Wildfire families answers to frequently asked questions on the following topics:
Class Group Pictures & 6th Grade Graduation Picture
- Class Group Picture Day was on January 16, 2020
- Wildfire received all the ordered class group pictures and distributed to teachers to go home before the closure began on 3/13/2020
- If you ordered a group picture and didn't receive it by 3/13, please contact Lifetouch customer Service using the information at the bottom
- If you would like to order any of these class pictures you can also place a new order by contacting Lifetouch Customer Service
Kindergarten Cap & Gown Culmination Pictures
- These pictures were taken on March 5, 2020
- Based on the impact of COVID-19 closures to the Lifetouch printing facilities, we are not expecting to receive these before school ends on 5/21/20
- Once a receiving date is determined, a distribution plan will be made and communicated to Kinder families
Spring Individual Pictures
- These pictures were taken of all students on March 11, 2020
- These photographs are not pre-paid picture orders and would have been distributed for review and purchase consideration sometime after Spring break
- If you are interested in viewing your child's Spring picture proof or placing an order, please call Lifetouch Customer Service and they will help locate your access credentials/view your child's photo and/or place an order
2019-20 Yearbook
- Our yearbook team of students, teachers and dedicated parent volunteers, once again worked throughout the year to gather and assemble this year's yearbook
- Unfortunately - like the Kinder photos referenced above - due to the impact of COVID-19 closures to the Lifetouch printing facilities, we are not expecting to receive the yearbooks before school ends on 5/21/20
- Once a receiving date is determined, a distribution plan will be made and communicated to Wildfire families
- If you would like to confirm your yearbook order, email Mrs. Schlinglof (one of our yearbook team advisors) at kschlinglof@pvschools.net
- 2019-2020 Wildfire Yearbook - There are a limited number of extra yearbooks available to purchase for $40 at the following link: https://wildfirepto.membershiptoolkit.com/packet/14978596. Due to COVID-19 related factory shutdowns, yearbook delivery to the school has been delayed. A Distribution Date during the summer will be announced once it is known. Thanks for your understanding.

Staffing Updates for the 2020 - 2021 School Year
Class Rosters and Move-Up Day for the 2020-2021 School
We had originally planned to hold our move-up day and release class rosters on the last day of school, however, the release of class rosters is going to have to be delayed for a future date. This is due to the school being unable to administer gifted, special education, and other evaluations prior to the end of the school year. The results of these tests and evaluations are a pivotal part of our placement process and without this information, we are unable to build balanced class rosters. We don't want to release class rosters and then have to make adjustments and re-release new rosters. We feel that would be unfair to those students whos placements would be changed.
When the school is informed by the district about when we are able to proceed with our testing and evaluations we will be able to set a class roster release date and that will be communicated with the community. We greatly appreciate everyone's understanding.
