DMS Delivers
October 6, 2023
Dear DMS Families,
While it is hard to believe, I want to remind you that we are already about half way through the first quarter of school. If you have not had the chance, please be sure to check your child's progress in each class on Aspen Parent Portal. Also, if you have any questions or concerns regarding student progress, be sure to reach out to classroom teachers. You can also reach out to a DMS administrator, or our Office of Student Services if you think that your child would benefit from additional support throughout the school day. As I said at the start of the year, two- way communication will be the key to student success at DMS, so please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
As we move into next week, please see below for important information, including DRRHS Green and Gold Night, specifics on our after school club and activity offerings, and the PTO's Trunk or Treat and DMS Movie events. Also, we are still looking for two volunteers for the DMS School Council. Please reach out to Ms. Kelleher if you are interested.
Have a great week!

Spring 2023 MCAS Scores
Student MCAS Reports will be sent home in student backpacks on Wednesday, October 18th. Please be on the lookout for the reports on that day. We will also remind you closer to the date. In addition, if your child did not attend DES or DMS last year, score reports will be sent to the school in which they took the MCAS last Spring. Please be sure to reach out to the school that your child attended in Spring 2023 if you wish to access their scores.
After School Activities
Here is a full list of our after school activities! All activities started Monday, October 2nd. Please email our ACE Coordinator, Mr. Gousie, at kgousie@drregional.org with any questions.
Are You Interested in Serving on the DMS School Council?
We are looking for TWO parent/guardian representatives to join our School Council. The School Council is comprised of both school and non-school members, and will work to incorporate our district's new Portrait of a Graduate and soon to be developed Strategic Plan into our School Improvement Plan. School Council members meet once a month for one hour on a pre-determined date after school.
Please email Ms. Kelleher (bkelleher@drregional.org) if you would like to participate in this year-long project.
Picture Orders/Retakes
As a reminder, DMS Picture Day was Monday, October 2nd. Please see the QR code to the left if you would like to order your child's photo. In addition, photo retakes are scheduled for Monday, November 13th.
Middle School Grading Correction
After a unified handbook was created, a clerical error with the grading scales was brought to our attention. Upon further investigation, we decided to correct the mistake and reflect the appropriate scale in Aspen immediately. Please see the correct scale to the left.
Reporting Absences
If students will be absent from school, please follow the below procedures:
Students should be called in to the main office if they will not be attending a scheduled school day. This information can be called into our attendance line at 508-669-4200. You will then record a message stating whether the student will be tardy to school, dismissed from school, or if they will be absent. You may also email an absence to jrapoza@drregional.org, as long as it is before 8:30 a.m. If we do not receive a phone call/email, families will receive a message confirming that their child has been marked absent.
For further information on student absences, please refer to the district's Student Handbook.

Dighton PTO Trunk or Treat
Fast approaching is our PTO Sponsored DES Trunk or Treat!
We are still looking for a few more trunks to participate! The trunk itself does not need to be manned during the Trunk or Treat! If you would like to participate in walking around with your children, you may do that and still have a Trunk! As a reminder, this is not a drop off event and students will need to have a chaperone on site during the event.
Sign up here: https://shorturl.at/IQTX3
Can't make it to the Trunk or Treat but would still like to participate? The DES Candy Monster is hungry and waiting to be fed some candy/goodie donations! Located near the DES Office
Student Chromebook Repairs
In the event that a chromebook is damaged, lost or not working, please submit a Technology Helpdesk Ticket. Once the technicians have confirmation of the ticket, they will provide the student with a temporary device to be used while the damage is evaluated. If the damage is seemingly accidental damage, the chromebook will be repaired at no cost to the student. If you have any questions, please reach out to the DMS Main Office.
