Carlsbad Cavern is located in Carlsbad,New Mexico. Its in the Chihuahuan Desert. ater Molded the cave four to six million years ago. some 250 million years ago, the region lay"s underneath the inland arm of an ancient sea. 15 to 20 million years ago, the ground uplifted. Naturally occuring sulfuric acid seeping into cracks in the limestone, gradually enlarging them toform a honeycomb of chambers.

Its good to go year round. The weather underground remains a constant 56ºF. The Main cavern gets crowded, especially in the summer and on major holiday weekends. when the deserts in bloom is an excellent tie to go. You will see bats fly from April or mid-May through October.

Via Natural Entrance: 2 p.m.
Via elevator: 3:30 p.m.

Visitor Center Open : 8 a.m. - 5p.m. (Please be in the elevator line to exit the cave by 4:30 p.m.) Open every day of the year except December 25.

A visitors point of view

Carlsbad caverns is an awesome place to visit. The formations are really impressive. make sure you take conferable shoes to wear because your going to be walking a lot.
