Message from the Principal

Greetings!

We had a wonderful week at Elkins Pointe with many happenings: "Yellow Out" day for Suicide Awareness month, "Don't Stop Achieving" Family Night, 6th grade Tailgate party, and Jr. Beta Hat Day. Congrats to our September "212 Award" recipients! Thank you to everyone for going that “extra degree” this week to make a difference with our students and school community.

Parents, I would like to continue to ask you to talk to your children about not bringing outside food into the school from vendors. The district policy does not allow food to be sold, shared, or brought in from restaurants for lunch/breakfast. It is essential for safety that students do not share items brought from home. Please take a look at the policy below, and go over the regulations and consequences with your child.

This morning at our staff meeting, Graduation Coach, James Tonge shared data on attendance at Elkins Pointe. It is so important students come to school every day and arrive on time. Parents, you are doing an excellent job of supporting student attendance. Keep up the excellent work!

Thank you to Principal Andy Allison for the invitation to meet with parents at Sweet Apple Elementary. Dr. Peoples and I enjoyed our visit. I look forward to meeting and connecting with more parents in the near future.

Have a wonderful weekend!

SCHOOL POLICY

NO OUTSIDE FOOD AT SCHOOL - NO SALE OF FOOD - NO FAST FOOD - NO FOOD SHARING

Elkins Pointe has a strict policy on no outside food from vendors, e.g., Starbucks, MacDonald's, etc. Candy, desserts, baked goods (home-made or store-bought), or other edible items are not to be sold or distributed during school hours unless approved in advance by the administration. It is important that students not eat any food items given to them by another student or person.

Bringing in outside food will result in the following: 1) Food items will be confiscated, 2) students may be faced with insubordination, and 3) students who do not adhere to this expectation may be subject to disciplinary action. To ensure safety, students should only eat food items brought from home or in the original, sealed package.

Note: Students may pack a lunch or snacks from their home. Students should not share their lunch or snack items for safety reasons, i.e. food allergy. Parents may not bring lunch to their child from vendors, i.e. Chick-fil-A, Subway, etc. These items are not permitted in the school.

Bio Bus Visits EPMS!

On September 18 and 19, our 8th Grade students enjoyed a visit from the Bio Bus and made rainbows using acids, bases, and indicators. The Bio Bus is an outreach mobile science program offered by Georgia State University. Fellows are undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students who love science and love getting elementary and middle school students excited about science. Your generous donations to the PTSA helped make this happen. Thank you to our PTSA for this Field Experience!
