35th Annual Rainbow Run
This year marks C. F. Holliday's 35th Rainbow Run. This event will take place the morning of Thursday, May 18th. All students and staff participate in this free, time-honored event. More information will come home from your child's teacher.
In honor of this milestone year, the staff has decided to put on an evening Color Fun Run. Current students, families, alumni and the community are welcome to participate in this free event. The students learned about the Color Fun Run during an assembly on Friday. Information will be sent home with the students on Monday. Anyone who wants to participate in the evening event, which takes place directly after Math Carnival, will need to sign a waiver and return it to the school. Look for more information about this run in next week's newsletter.

Asset of the Month
Our asset of the month for April is asset #37 - Personal Power. According to the Search Institute, this asset falls under the category of positive identity and means the young person feels he or she has control over 'things that happen to me'. The Search Institute gives the following ways that parents can help their children with this asset:
- Help your child learn to brainstorm and choose solutions to problems so that he or she learns to be empowered.
- A child’s personal power (self-esteem) might come from successful team work, a rewarding service activity, or remembering to do chores without being told. Look for ways to identify and recognize your child’s growing personal power.
- As you watch your teen become more empowered and self-assured, have ongoing conversations about the new responsibilities this age brings and about your confidence in their ability to navigate their expanding world.
- Help your children understand the difference(s) between what we can and can’t control. For example, we can control what we say and do; we can’t control what other people say and do.
