Principal's Update - March/April 2018

Happy Spring!

Although this past winter was a cold and snowy one, we did enjoy many wonderful school events with the students. Thanks to our wonderful PTA, two award winning authors visited our school. Peter Brown met with 1st and 2nd grade students and just this past week author Lester Laminack met with Kindergarten students. The assembly programs were enjoyed by both students and teachers. Our first graders worked hard to prepare for their spring concerts and they sounded fabulous! We look forward to the second grade concerts later this spring.

Our annual INTERNATIONAL NIGHT was a huge success! It was so wonderful to see many families at our school celebrating the many cultures of our school community. Thank you to all the PTA and teacher volunteers that made this event so special.

Mrs. Glover, K-4 Math/Science Supervisor, organized a wonderful Family Math evening that was very well attended. It was amazing to see students teaching their families what they are learning every day in Math! Another event was planned and facilitated by one of our art teachers, Mrs. Diatlo. Families had the chance to relax and get creative with their children at Family Art Night. Once again, thanks to the many volunteers that make these events so special!

Parent-Teacher Conferences

On April 12, 13, 16, and 17 we will have early dismissal at OHES for parent-teacher conferences. This is an opportunity for parents/guardians to learn about their child's progress, both academically and social-emotionally. It is also a time to set future goals and learn how you can best support your child.

Kindergarten and 1st Grade Registration

The official open registration for Kindergarten has concluded. At this time we will continue to register students for Kindergarten and any first grade students who attended a full day Kindergarten program privately.

Children eligible for entrance to Kindergarten must be five years old by October 1st. Please call the main office of the school at 609-466-7605 to schedule an appointment.

Save the Date!

May 17, 6:30 pm. An Evening Orientation for Parents of Rising 3rd Graders!

Come hear a special presentation from VES school administrators, Ms. Lacy and Mrs. Maccarone and tour Village Elementary School and third grade classrooms. Our second grade students will also have a special visit to VES on the same day. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and parents to learn about the transition to VES and how similar our elementary schools are.

Welcome to Kindergarten!

On May 18 there will be a special orientation for incoming kindergarten students and families. We look forward to welcoming our new group of kindergarteners very soon. Three sessions are scheduled for this date and families will be notified via mail as to which session to attend. Come learn about our school, the kindergarten program and ways to get involved with our school community.

Preorder a 2017-2018 OHES Yearbook

MESPTA has made yearbook preordering available. Preordered yearbooks will sell for $20.00 each. After May 15th, they will be for sale for $25.00, although quantities will be limited. The OHES yearbook order form can be found at this link: YEARBOOK

Introducing Interim Supervisor for Language Arts & Social Studies
