Timby Squad
Research has shown that young people who serve others and get involved in their communities are less likely to become involved in at-risk behaviors and are able to strengthen social decision-making and leadership skills. Washington has our “Timby Squad” to allow students a convenient opportunity to work on a variety of service and mentoring projects. During the 2017-18 school year Timby Squad members participated in:
organizing a food drive for the Tosa Community Food Pantry and a penny drive for the Leukemia Society
helping younger students with math and reading
assisting classroom teachers as needs arise
recycling and waste reduction initiatives
engaging younger students in playground games
coordinating Spirit Week for Timberwolf Trot
Mrs. Kimmel and Ms. Smith visited the 5th grade classrooms this week to talk about all the ways 5th graders could be involved. Last year all of our 5th graders participated in Timby Squad and we’re excited to have full participation from our 5th grade this year!

Drop off and Pick Up Routines
Please take note:
- 67th Street is ONE way SOUTHBOUND during drop-off and pick-up. Between 7:00-8:30am and 2:00-3:30pm traffic is only allowed to move southbound.
- Thank you ahead of time for being considerate to our neighbors on 67th and all around our building by NOT blocking driveways nor turning around in driveways. 67th street is extremely busy in the morning and at dismissal so your continued efforts at being patient and follow the posted rules help keep everyone safe.
- There is a handicap parking sign posted on the north end of the cutout on 67th Street. Cars, buses and daycare vans should avoid this area at all times. Thank you for your cooperation.
Please review the link, Safe Routes to School: School Map, for some important reminders to help improve the safety of students and others around Washington School.
Thanks for your cooperation!
