Congratulations to everyone for a successful round 1 of STAAR testing! Week one of Principal is now in the books and I can say that my excitement is growing for what is in store for next year. I am excited about continuing our progress as well as creating a learning environment that supports students and nourishes student growth. When you read this note I will be in Atlanta for the ASCD conference. This is a conference that I love to attend because I always leave feeling inspired! I attend this conference to see how I can learn, grow, and change to improve my practice as an educator. I will be out today and Monday. Have a great weekend and I will see you on Tuesday!

End of Year Celebrations Dates & Times
Below are the dates and times for the End Of Year Celebrations. For this year, we will continue in the same manner as the last couple years with the celebration in the classroom followed by a picnic out on the playground. We will communicate these dates & times with a Save The Date for parents next week so that working parents can make arrangements to attend if they wish to do so.
Aimee has created a sign up genius for each event which will be communicated to parents and possibly each grade level can put in your grade level information that will be sent out to parents.

Thank you to all the staff and teachers for making STAAR successful for Round 1!
· Primary grades for being flexible with schedules
· 3rd grade for switching lunches
· Specials team for providing an awesome “special” time on both days
· Intervention for always stepping up and helping in anyway
· 4th and 5th grade teachers and staff for doing an awesome job administering the test and preparing our students for the test
· Lynn and Terry for walking countless steps around the building making sure everyone had their snacks, people where in right locations, and signs were properly displayed, along with helping pack up materials on the last day
· Tina for mixing the special trail mix and making sure all rooms were ready to go for testing
· Leigh Ann and Aimee for helping order and pick up our lunches
· Ms. Wise and Mrs. Murray helping sort and count answer documents and booklets
· Mrs. Lowry for your support and making sure DWE testing environment was perfect
· All the staff and teachers that had to test or monitor during the STAAR, thank you for taking time out of your day
April 23rd is the Katy ISD Teacher Fair! We still need volunteers! Please consider volunteering!
April 22nd - PDAS Teacher Self-Report forms Parts II & III and any revisions to TSR, Part I must be submitted to appraisers at least two weeks prior to the summative conference and no later than April 22nd.
SAVE THE DATE! School Wide Planning Meeting - April 28th
We will have our annual School Wide Planning meeting April 28th from 4-7pm. All professional staff members are expected to attend. Paraprofessionals are invited and welcome to attend. Unfortunately due to budget limitations, we can't pay the paraprofessionals for the additional 3 hours. Since Friday, April 29th is a professional learning day, there will be an opportunity to adjust some of the time. This will be discussed as the week gets closer.

2016-2017 Theme Contest
The annual Calendar Meeting will be on Monday, May 23rd. If you have any important events or activities or otherwise important dates for next year's calendar, please come to the meeting or give to your team leader to share at the meeting. We go through the coming year's calendar month by month and add fixed or tentative dates so that we avoid calendar conflicts.
The meeting usually lasts about an hour and is definitely worth the time!

Federal Programs Public Meeting
A public meeting has been scheduled for Monday, May 2, 2016 at 1pm in the Katy Independent School District Educational Support Complex, Room 1200BCG located at 6301 South Stadum Lane, Katy, TX regarding the ESEA Title 1, Title II, Title III, IDEA B Special Education, High School Accelerated Instruction and Carl D. Perkins CTE Programs as implemented in the 2015-2016 school year and as proposed for 2016-2017 school year. The staff and the public are invited to comment on these programs. A written statement for the record must accompany all commetns made.
