Classroom News!
Happy New Year to you! We hope that you had a fun and restful winter break. It was wonderful to see your children back in Kindergarten and we have slipped back easily into our routine.
The children have returned to school bigger, more mature and far more independent than they were at the start of the year. Starting in January, It is appropriate for us to have higher expectations for their work and responsibilities.
This month we are learning about Bears in the wild. Later on in the month we will also explore the history of the teddy bear.
On our first day back, we read "The Peace Book" by Todd Parr. The children cut out and colored their own paper peace birds; each bird has a message of peace generated by your child written on its body . The birds are gently "flying" from the ceiling in the classroom.
Conversation Starters
* Do you remember what your message was on your peace bird?
* How did it feel to go back to school after vacation?
* Why was Mrs. Mandaiker's wedding sari so heavy?
* Can you think of one bear fact that you learned this week?

Request for Materials
We need the following materials for upcoming projects and wonder if anyone may have these things lying around their house:
1. Cards and stationary that are not written upon.
2. Bubble wrap - any size is fine.
Thanks!
