December Newsletter
Barrington School District
December 22, 2022
Hello Barrington Families;
We are part of a wonderful community! This week I have spent a considerable amount of time in our schools, in and out of learning spaces and offices, and talking with students and staff. While walking about, I was at times greeted with a quiet wave or a nod, other moments were filled with stories and laughter, some instances turned into serious and thoughtful dialogue and all of the interactions were incredibly meaningful. Connection. One simple word with such an enormous impact. According to Brene Brown,
“....connection is defined as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.” – Dr. Brene Brown.Apr 29, 2020
When I walk through our schools I feel a true connection as well as a commitment to do my best to give all of you what you and your children give me each day which is an energy that is fueled by the relationships that we have built together. I absolutely adore the little hugs that wrap around my knees, the excitement over a shared project or assignment , and the shouts of “Hey! Weren’t you my kindergarten Principal?” All of this provides a true sense of belonging and purpose. I thank you all for affording me this moment in time to experience all of this. I am truly grateful and honored to be serving the Barrington Community.
Over this Holiday break I encourage you to take a moment to think of those people who provide you with connection, energy, and strength. Reach out to them. Make sure that they are aware of how important they are to you. Connect.
Have a fantastic Holiday Barrington! Be safe, have fun, and let’s take 2023 by storm! We have a lot to do and I am confident that we will get there, together.
Be well, Deannah 💜

Technology
Dear Barrington Families,
With the addition of text messaging for school notices, you may want to set your communication preferences. For example you may want to remove the early morning phone call option and only receive text messages and emails.
In order to set your communication preferences you will need to install a complimentary app on your mobile device.
Here is a video with instructions on how to download and register for the app. Once you have access to the app you can make updates to your notification preferences..
Feel free to contact me via email if you have trouble accessing the app. You can also contact SchoolMessenger support directly from the above link!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
