Finishing Touches!

With three weeks to go to wrap up construction, workers are putting on the finishing touches as they complete the electrical, the bathrooms, the doors and the trim. It is an exciting process to watch!

CTL Plans for School Opening

We are excitedly preparing for an August 25 start date with face-to-face instruction as planned. We have been advised by legal counsel that we are protected by the Governor's Executive Order Number 28 that takes precedent over county recommendations or mandates. We will adhere to the CTL COVID Guidelines posted in last week's Bulletin so that all CTL students remain safe and well. Through in-school instruction, CTL will provide quality academic support along with the social and emotional support that students need to thrive.

Research Is On Our Side

Both the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) strongly advocate for having students physically present in school in the fall. The guidance is based on what pediatricians and infectious disease specialists know to date about COVID-19 and how it affects children. Evidence so far suggests that children and adolescents are less likely to become infected by the virus and if they do are either asymptomatic or have less severe symptoms, and no evidence to date suggests that they spread the virus to adults. On the other hand, AAP and CDC both emphasize that the harm caused by closing schools is significant to the social, emotional, and behavioral health; economic well-being, and academic achievement of children in both the short- and long-term. Schools play a critical role in supporting the whole child--academic achievement; language, communication, social and interpersonal skills; and emotional and psychological support from friends, teachers, and staff members.

We are following the research of AAP and CDC closely and are anxious to get back into the classrooms (indoor and outdoor) and on the playgrounds with your children in August, doing what we at CTL do best--teaching the whole child. We will adhere to the CTL COVID Guidelines and will continue to follow closely the guidance of CDC and ADP.

PPE Equipment Is Arriving

We were fortunate to receive through the Texas Association of Private Schools, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that we picked up this week from Region 4 Education Service Center::
  • 2 cases of disposable masks--1 adult and 1 child
  • 2 cases of reusable masks--1 adult and 1 child
  • 12 gallons of hand sanitizer

Arriving soon are:

  • 8 gallons of hand sanitizer
  • 1 case of thermometers
  • 15 face shields
  • 510 pairs of gloves

In addition, CTL has been awarded a federal grant for an additional $3,300 for PPE equipment.

We are well-prepared and fully stocked to provide a safe learning environment for students, teachers and staff throughout the 2020-2021 school year.
