Classic Students Return To In-Person On-Campus Instruction on Monday November 16th
Classic students will be returning to Vista High School on Monday, November 16th! We look forward to seeing you all back on campus.
Based on direction from the County Health Department, our district has determined that we will be including students in the classroom cleaning process between class periods.
Soap spray bottles and paper towels will be provided to every classic classroom.
To minimize the number of hands on the soap spray bottle, it is recommended that either the teacher sprays the desks during the passing period OR that one student is responsible for this task in each period. All students will have paper towels to wipe down their individual desks
Only teachers may use the Waxie 730 spray bottles. Students are not allowed to use the 730 spray and instead will be using a soap spray and paper towels.
Students must avoid sharing electronic devices, clothing, books, and other games or learning aids as much as practicable. If sharing must occur, items will need to be cleaned and disinfected between uses.
Students shall be receiving individual clear tri-fold dividers. Students will be responsible for transporting dividers and keeping them clean and serviceable (dividers are currently on order).
REVISED BELL SCHEDULE THANKSGIVING WEEK - PLEASE READ!
There will be a revised bell schedule for next week due to the Thanksgiving Holiday. Please be aware and plan accordingly! School will start at 9:00 a.m. each school day.

Why are you inspired to serve your Country?
In honor of Veterans Day and in collaboration with VHS JROTC, PASS AmeriCorps asked JROTC students why they joined the organization and why they are inspired to serve their country. Click on this link to see their responses!

ELAC Formation Information for Parents of English Learners
Each year at every school, parents of English learners have the opportunity to participate in an English Learner Advisory Committee, or ELAC. During the school year, the ELAC has several responsibilities, including approving English learner budget items for programs and services for English Learners. To form an ELAC, 5 to 10 parents must be elected by the parents of English Learners at the school to meet regularly with the principal and/or other school staff to complete several tasks.
After the election of members, the first task will be training on ELAC responsibilities. If you are interested please fill out this declaration and return it to the school office. You may do this by emailing a copy to Juan Ayala at juanayala@vistausd.org or Diane Bell Cerda at dianebellcerda@vistausd.org

VUSD Protocol for Confirmed COVID-19 Incidents
Once the District learns of an individual who has tested positive at a school site or office, the district will coordinate efforts with site personnel and follow these steps:
- Consult with Local Health Officers
- Clean and treat any affected areas
- Contact trace within Vista Unified to determine close contacts*
- Immediately notify anyone within Vista Unified determined to have had close contact* and advise of any required self-quarantine
- Notify anyone who may have been in proximity, such as in the classroom, school, or office
- Isolate individuals if present and advise of any required self-quarantine
- Follow any additional recommendations from the San Diego County Public Department of Public Health
*Close Contact is defined as any individual who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to positive specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated.
- Check this website for more detailed information.

FREE PSAT!
Vista High is pleased to announce we will be offering the PSAT/NMSQT on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. As in the past two years, this opportunity is funded by XQ and of no cost to our families.
Students do need to register for the exam on the VHS website by November 24, 2020 to reserve their exam. Go to “Student Life,” then “Testing,” and then “ XQ Sponsored PSAT.”
Additionally, students with documented disabilities may request accommodations consistent with those provided in their current IEP or 504 plan for the PSAT/NMSQT. For more information about typical accommodations, please visit the College Board site, Typical Exam Accommodations. We encourage you to also review the What you Need to Know About Your Child’s Accommodations tip sheet provided by the College Board.
In order to obtain approval for accommodations, the College Board requires the attached parent consent form to be completed and retained by the school. The school will then complete the application process on your behalf. Approved accommodations will be valid for one year after graduation. The form does require an actual parent signature, electronic signatures are not accepted. Email the form to candicekordis@vistausd.org before the deadline, Tuesday, November 24th, 2020.
If your student elects to take the exam without accommodations, no action is needed.
For more information about the PSAT/NMSQT, please visit the College Board website at https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10/practice.

Permission Slips for Classic Students in Virtual Classes
If you are a classic student in virtual classes periods 1,2,5 & 6 AND you have submitted your parents' permission slips, you have been approved to leave campus on the periods where you have virtual classes. Once we return to campus, you must obtain a sticker decal from the finance office to place on your ID card. The permission slips will also include Mondays, not just the other days of the week.
