Everyday is Earth Day
Our school recognized that we celebrate the Earth everyday. We spent time during our recess cleaning up our school playground. Students took care of the commons by picking up trash and making the space clean for the whole community to enjoy.
Look for Rainbows
During springtime when there is lots of rain and sunshine there are often rainbows. Our staff witnessed one over the school on Earth Day.
Seedlings
The garden is ready for planting! We are taking care of seedlings at our school to sell at the Eco Fair and place into our school garden. If you have a sunny windowsill, save some plastic containers, add some soil and seeds and watch your plant grow!
My Slideshow
Kindergarteners are studying the health and diversity of living things in our community. They practiced investigating using science tools and "looking closely" to find details. We visited the community garden and will be taking many community walks to explore local living things.

First Graders are studying our ecosystem and how the living and non-living parts of the system are interconnected. Students are realizing how we need all the parts of the system - sunlight, plants, animals and each other to survive.
We will be spending a lot of time outdoors exploring Earth's elements starting with the land. Students went on a scavenger hunt searching for building materials, soil, sand, clay, stones, slate, and mulch. Next week we will discover the living things that inhabit the soil and rocks of our ecosystem.
