Tiger Times

Family Newsletter for HCMS Students--May 22, 2022

Friday is an Early release day. School ends at 12:15. The carline opens at 11:45. Please plan accordingly and be sure your child knows how he/she is getting home.

Last week of school!

It is hard to believe the school year is ending! We have had an eventful first year as Hammond Creek Tigers! I feel fortunate to have an opened a school with your children. They have brought joy to the building, making it a great way to begin new traditions.

This week will be busy! On Wednesday we will have device pickup. Please be sure that any chargers that are at home come to school by Wednesday. Many students have chargers on their "debt list" so please make sure these items are cleared up.

We plan to send out report cards late next week. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher this week. Teachers only work until June 1st, so they will be unavailable after that.

Again, thank you for your support this year. We look forward to a restful summer and wish you all the same. We know our 7th graders will go on to do great things at Dalton Junior High School next year, and we look forward to seeing our 6th graders, UPSTAIRS on August 9th. Have a great summer, Tigers!

Support for our German Family

Next year we will begin the German immersion program at Hammond Creek. We have hired a German teacher who will be moving with his family to Dalton this summer. He has two young children who will be attending Brookwood. They are looking for a 2-3 bedroom house or condo in the $1500 range. They currently live in a city and are used to housing on the smallish side, so it doesn't have to be super roomy. They do prefer it to be in a walkable neighborhood since they are planning on having a single vehicle. If you have any leads on something that might be available mid-July, please reach out to Claire.Kyzer@dalton.k12.ga.us and she will pass it along to him. They can't wait to join our community and will accept all the help they can get, as moving from out of the country is difficult sight unseen. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide to help this family have a smooth transition.
