Two Clark FFA students participated in the Collin County Livestock Show on Wednesday, January 6 and did very well! Christopher Thomas placed 13th, and Kaitlyn Zhang placed 5th!

Even more exciting is that a Clark alumnus, now a junior at Plano Senior High, received Reserve Grand Champion, so she got second place overall!!! That's a huge deal in livestock showing.

All students did an amazing job, and two others who are Clark alumni placed 11th and 12th as well! Congratulations to these hard working and talented students!

4. FROM THE COUNSELING OFFICE

SCHEDULE CHANGES

The deadline to drop from an honors to an on-level class is Friday, January 15. Please note that for second semester, there is just a two week window of time to change from honors to on-level.

Please be aware that any student's schedule for second semester may change due to class balancing. This happens every semester, and all changes are final. We appreciate your understanding.

The entire campus will be open for you to visit.

9. ATTENDANCE PROCEDURE FOR 2015-2016 SCHOOL YEAR

Reporting a student absent: A parent/guardian should call the student absence line to report a student absence. Call 469-752-7200 option 1 for English, or option 2 for Spanish, next press option 3 to leave a message. Leave the student name, ID#, reason for the absence, date of the absence and who is reporting the absence.

Parent notes: A student has up to (3) three days after an absence to turn in a parent/doctor note in order to receive an excused absence. The note should include the students name, ID number, reason and dates of the absence. A parent call does not excuse the absence.

Leaving school ill: If a student becomes ill while at school, he/she should go to the nurse's office. The nurse will contact the parents. The student and parent must then sign out at the attendance office before leaving. A student should not call/text you from their cell phone to tell you they are sick and to pick them up. Cell phone use is not allowed during class time. We have a phone available for students in the front office.

Doctor/Dental appointments: If your student must leave school early, PLEASE send a note with him/her so that he/she can be released from class. The student can sign out and wait for you in the front office. A doctor's note is required when the student returns to school. The state requires us to have a doctor's note when a student is gone for an appointment.

Other absences: Non-School activities must be pre-approved by the principal in order for the student to make up missed work. The Student Absence Request Form is available in the front office and on the Clark website in the FORMS section. The form needs to be filled out and turned in to the attendance office at least a week before the absence.

REMEMBER - NOTES CAN PREVENT UNEXCUSED ABSENCES!
