Bulldog Bulletin
August 11, 2017
Dear Bulldog Families,
Our new school year is off to a smooth fantastic start! It certainly takes a team effort to serve our nearly 715 students. We would like to thank our parent volunteers, bus drivers, cafeteria staff, custodial staff, support staff, office staff, teachers, and amazing families. I truly believe that we have the best learning community due to all of these individuals. Throughout the year in our Bulldog Bulletin, we will have a Staff Spotlight so you can get to know some of these people a little better.
This week, actually just three days, students have been engaged in community building and a variety of lessons to build stamina and establish rituals and routines, which will lead to deep learning in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.
We understand that effective communication is an important piece of the home-school partnership. We have sent daily Skylert voice and email messages these first few days of schools in an attempt to chunk the amount of information you need at the beginning of the year. Once we are back in the school routine, the voice calls will only occur periodically with vital information. You will receive a weekly Bulldog Scoop listing important dates on non-newsletter Fridays. Our newsletter, The Bulldog Bulletin, will be published (electronically) on the last Friday of each month. We will also communicate quick learning snapshots via Twitter @NBEbulldogs. The New Britton website also contains helpful information: student handbook, school calendar and more.
Monday, August 14th is our first early-release day. Car riders will be released at 3:15 and bus riders at 3:20. You should expect bus riders home twenty minutes earlier than today. Please remember that we are still getting back into the routine of school and dismissal so this first full week of school things may take a little longer. Our top priority is always student safety.
In reflecting upon the first few days of our new school year, I am filled with awe. Our students are full of wonder, curiosity, and gifts…our teachers are ready to nurture and facilitate this amazing new learning adventure. As always, thank you for partnering with us in education. Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Lori Mankin
