Please make sure that you are checking the calendar (on the website or upcoming dates below) for important dates and parent observation weeks. These are often posted in the studio as well for your convenience. In fact, Parent Participation Week is next week! Come ready to dance your heart out!
Final Costume fees will be on your April statement. If your deposit has covered the cost of the costume(s) then you will either be covered or even possibly see a credit. If you have not paid your fees or owe more, then you will see that charge along with your monthly dance fees.
This year's recital is Saturday, June 8th at James A. Garfield middle school in the Iva L. Walker auditorium. The theme this year will be announced in the next newsletter.
Summer Registration for camps/classes begins April 6th, these classes do fill up fast so please register your child as soon as possible in order to make sure that they have a spot.
The studio will be closed on Spring Break (see dates below), this is for all classes so that we can perform some spring cleaning and maintenance.
To all who remember the fabulous Miss Kristen, she will be returning for one night only on Tuesday, April 9th to clog the night away with our cloggers, feel free to stop in and say hi!

Policies 2018-2019
- Tuition is based on the entire year, but for your convenience is broke into monthly payments. Full payment for all monthly classed is due the 1st class of each month ($15 late fee assessed after the 10th). You may pay the tuition in full for the dance season or pay monthly.
- Tuition, registration fees, costume payments, competition fees, and performance tickets are non-refundable (if tuition was paid for the full year in advance, reimbursement for discontinued classes when notified in advance).
- You are charged for all classes registered for, not just the ones attended. If discontinuing classes all together, please speak with the office first. If a problem cannot be remedied, you must fill out a withdrawal form. An adult, not a minor must fill out the form. Leaving a message is not a form of withdrawal.
- All students pay a $15 registration fee at the time of registration (August/September). $25 per family.
- Monthly dance newsletters will be emailed throughout the dance season. The informative dance letters will keep you up to date on important dates, times, what's going on in the studio, tuition reminders, costume payments, recital information, holiday breaks, make-up classes, fundraisers, extra practices, parades/festivals/competitions etc. Other emails and calls may be made throughout the month. It is your responsibility to make sure we have the proper phone number and email.
- Regular attendance is important to keep up with dance. When an absence occurs, make up classes are not available. Your tuition is for 4 weeks in a month. Sometimes there are 5 weeks, your bonus. These extra days built into the schedule are sometimes used for snow days (depends on your class day). If a class needs made up, the instructor will choose the date and inform you.
- There is no "credit" given for missed classes and no refunds for partial months. Tuition is still expected in full.
- The 8th Count is not responsible for student property. Any student destroying or damaging The 8th Count Dance Center or other people's property at The 8th Count Dance Center will promptly be dismissed.
- The 8th Count Dance Center has a dress code. Please follow all dress codes!!
- All students' belongings must be kept neat. Please do not leave coats, boots, shoes, bags, food wrappers etc. lying around.
- The 8th Count Dance Center puts on a yearly recital. Recital is optional but rehearsal is mandatory for any one who wants to participate in recital. All balances must be paid in full before recital. Look for costume deposit dates in the newsletter.
- If your child is attending any class other than Tiny Tots, they need to attend alone. This policy will be at the discretion of the instructor. You will be allowed to visit during the scheduled parent observation weeks.
- Staff and parents of The 8th Count Dance Center might take pictures or video during the year of students. These pictures are used in promotional articles, ads, website, studio Facebook page and throughout the studio. If you wish for your child's photo NOT to be used, you must submit it in writing. Note - your students name will not be posted with picture.
- Encourage all students to wait inside the studio until a designated person picks them up. We can't always watch outside the building and can't be responsible. It is important that all students get home safely.
- Older students who are permitted (by parents) to go next door for food should wear cover-ups over dance clothes. Do not wear dance shoes on the sidewalk (or go barefoot). If leaving the studio during a break, students should get permission from his/her parent. Parents should discuss age, boundaries, and the buddy system if students are allowed to leave the studio. Teachers and staff are not responsible once a dancer leaves the studio.
- Students are not permitted to bring any drink other than water into classrooms. No food, candy, or gum on the dance floor. Students need to get in the habit of using the restroom before and after class.
- All students should be responsible for cleaning up after themselves. All food should stay upstairs in the waiting area and be cleaned up after consumption.
- Students with private dance lessons need to give a 24-hour notice of anticipated absence. Without official notice, full tuition will be charged for that day.
- The 8th Count Dance Center will continue charging tuition and will place costume order unless office has prior written notice of un-enrollment . This must be turned into the office manager.
- Company dancers understand that a separate contract is required.
