King Middle School

3/17/2023

Message from Mr. Wright

Dear King Families,

We've wrapped up the 3rd week of the grading period, and have officially passed the 2/3 point of the school year. Thank you for your continued support of your scholars by checking Aeries and Google Classroom to ensure all of their assignments have been turned in.

We're seeing an uptick in negative behaviors on campus. Please speak with your child about expected behavior on campus and remind them that their participation in our end of year activities is dependant on not only their GPA, but also demonstrated good behavior on campus and in the classroom.

Our PTSO has a fundraiser planned for Tuesday, see the information below to participate. It's a great opportunity to treat yourself to lunch or dinner and support the school!

New this week is the monthly newsletter from the Boys and Girls Club - see what our Lion Pride is doing after school!

Reminder that the Super Grade Card trip has been rescheduled to Friday, March 31 and Spring Break is coming up April 10 - 14. See you all Monday for another great week of learning.

Mr. Wright-Principal

NEW!!! OUSD Calendar 2023-2024 School Year

To help with your Summer and Fall Vacation planning:

OPD Traffic Support for OUSD Schools

You may have noticed that motor officers are going by schools during drop off and pick-ups to monitor traffic. They cannot be at every school daily but will rotate around the city. This will not be a mandatory enforcement detail but an observation, education, and last resort, enforcement. We want everyone to be safe, especially around our schools.

Please be aware that our officers will be present, and do not be alarmed. They are only monitoring our drop off and pick up procedures. If you get a chance, please thank our OPD partners for their support!

Coming Soon!! Book Request from PTSO

The PTSO is looking for donations of gently used, age appropriate books for their Annual 6th Grade Book Donation Drive, which will be held April 17-18.

Your donated books will help encourage the 6th, soon to be 7th graders, to read over the summer break. We need at least 400 books to ensure there is one for every 6th grader.

There is a box for book donations in the school office. Thank you for your support!

Warning from the DEA - please read!

The Drug Enforcement Administration is advising the public of an alarming emerging trend of colorful fentanyl available across the US. Since August 2022, DEA and law enforcement partners have seized brightly-colored fentanyl and fentanyl pills in 26 states. Dubbed "rainbow fentanyl" in the media, this trend appears to be a new method used by drug cartels to sell highly addictive and potentially deadly fentanyl made to look like candy to children and young people.
