As you plan, use these additional questions to guide your planning:
What do we want students to learn?
How will we know that they have learned it?
How will we plan and deliver quality instruction so that students are likely to learn it the first time?
How will we respond when students have already learned it?
- How will we respond when some students have not learned it?
Note------ Grading Guidelines.
CSEC and Placement Cards
Thank you for your help with gathering this documentation. All complete!
Each new year brings new opportunities, one of those being an opportunity to bring on some new folks to enhance the dynamic Raven team.
Many of you would probably like to know recent progress in terms of staffing, so this should help.
With Kim Kubesch’s retirement, Chelsi Young will be assuming the Gr. 5 Science/Social Studies assignment.
Kathryn Cabrera will be our new Gr. 5 R/ELA teacher. She has been at TAMU working on her Master’s and has most recently taught in California.
Charlsie McDaniel has resigned to stay at home with her family. We have appreciated her help this semester in fifth grade math. Welcome back, Rachel Whitely! She will be our new Gr. 5 Math teacher. She is returning to Houston after being in Katy ISD for 2 years.
Amy Marshall will be moving North. Amy’s energy will be hard to replace. Robin Strong, most recently teaching in Cy-Fair and Sara Bechtle, new TAMU graduate will step up to take the 2 Gr. 4. R/ELA classrooms.
We bid farewell to Nicole Engstrom who has accepted a job at Allen Academy. Julie Bockelmann will be joining our first grade team.
In the Works
Meredith Sellers is seeking a band position and will not be back next year. We recommended a teacher for the music position this Saturday during the career fair, so I will let you know when it is signed, sealed and delivered.
A teacher has been recommended for the second grade classroom, and is pending as well. Keep your fingers crossed!
As a reminder, we are projected to have the following sections for next year:
Kinder 4 sections
Grade 1- 4 sections
Grade 2- 4 sections
Grade 3- 3 sections
Grade 4- 4 sections
Grade 5-3 sections
We currently have this position posted: Life Skills IA (Shasha retiring…three cheers for her!)
Once all has been discussed with Susan Finch and cleared through Human Resources, we will have the following position posted:
PE IA (James Ray has accepted a coaching position at St. Joseph’s.)
Registrar/Attendance Clerk (Teresa is retiring!!! She's so happy!)
When monitoring the playground, supervision is of the utmost importance. You're in charge!
When staff stands side by side, the focus could easily shift to the conversation at hand, instead of the supervision of the students, so separating and circulating is ideal. Make certain you can see all of the students, and that the students can see you at all times. If play is too rough, address it right away, i.e.,highly competitive football games without official referees, and give students a time out if necessary.
A few housekeeping items...
Please send a list of the absent students in your class to Teresa Sykes by 8:15 am each day.
Be in the cafe by 7:25 for Friday Morning Meeting to greet and manage students. Shake their hands, smile at them.
Move all lesson plans into your personal planner. This is a requirement.
You are encouraged to take advantage of the collaborative planning sessions with the IC's.
