Advanced Placement 2023-24
Chisholm Trail High School
What is Advanced Placement (AP)?
- The Advanced Placement (AP) program enables students to pursue college-level studies while in high school.
- Each AP course is modeled on a comparable introductory college course in the subject.
- Students will demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills in their coursework.
- Upon successful completion of an AP course (score 70 or higher), students will receive high school credit for the course.
- To have the opportunity to earn college credit for an AP course, students must register and make payment for the corresponding AP exam. Students that receive scores of 3 or higher on the exam are eligible for college credit. Credit policies are determined by each individual college.

- Learn essential time management & study skills needed for college and career success
- Dig deep into subjects of interest and learn to use creativity & problem-solving skills to address course challenges
#3: Helps students earn college credit and/or skip introductory courses in college
- AP scores may exempt students from TSIA2 or other college placement testing. College placement testing is different than college entrance testing (SAT or ACT). If a school requires SAT or ACT as part of the college application process, AP testing is not a substitute.
