H-Club Golf Tournament
We in the Athletic department want to take a quick moment to thank all of the teachers, building staff, friends, and families for coming out to the Humboldt H-Club Golf Tournament this past Saturday. The temps were lower than expected, but the morale was incredibly high, and a great time was had by all.
- a BIG thank you needs to be given to Carlos Luna, Jesse Day, and Mario Luna for organizing the event. A massive amount of work goes into putting on an event such as this, and the hours they put in behind the scenes to help it be a success needs to be acknowledged and honored. Thank you for your work on this!!
- also, if you have any of the following students in class, please thank them for coming out and working the event. We had alumni from the '50s ranging to the class of 2010, and they loved engaging with the current Humboldt Students. If you have: Eh Ler Soe, Anders Mork, Yah Naing Oo, Ar Ri Shae, Mu Tu Hsa Lah, Saw Say Tha, Ta Hsoh Gay, Blue Gay Htoo, Ywar Hay Tha, Moo Kan Blu Soe, Chaly Moua, Po Si Si, Gay Say Moo, Nee Re Htoo, Eh Mu Wah, Eh Hser Heh, Wah Chri Paw and Paw Say Thank them for coming!
Badminton
The Badminton team has completed their season this past week at Eden Prairie High School for the Badminton State Tournament. The Hawks competed well, but no one was able to secure any Hardware. Coach Norberg and Coach Day will have a lot of returners next spring, and Coach Yang has been doing a great job with the middle school program as well; the future is bright!
Softball
Softball finished off its regular season on Friday, traveling to Blake for a non-conference game. This game was a rescheduled event, so it took place after the hawks had lost their section game and were eliminated from post-season play. With that said, Blake was a great match-up for the Hawks, and they played a really competitive match. The two teams shared pizza after the game and had a great finish to the season.
Boys Tennis
Boys Tennis lost in team play at the hands of SPA last week, but are prepared to get them back this week in individual play. The Hawks will look to move forward with some of their top performers as individuals and redeem themselves as they will head back to SPA tomorrow at 8:00 am to compete in individual sections. No matter the result, a big thank you is deserved to coaches Xiong and Lor for the work they've put into this season. The kids are having fun, learning the game, and making friends; what more can you ask for?
Track and Field
the Boys and Girls Track team looks to hit their peak this week as their postseason begins. Both the Boys and Girls team will run their preliminary race this Tuesday at Harding High School. The meet is slated to begin at 4:00 PM, and if the team does well, they will run in the conference finals on Thursday at the same time. After talking with Coach Warren, he says to keep your eyes on the Campion sisters who have been showing steady improvement in the distance events all season long. Additionally, on the Boys' side, Eh Ler Soe looks to be a dark horse in some of the speed events. Good luck to the track team!
Baseball
The Baseball team had a rematch with the Nova Classical Knights on Friday, and while they were unsuccessful in the scoreline, several athletes have shown improvement throughout the year and had moments of brilliance during the game. The baseball team is comprised mostly of middle school students, so the fact that we've been able to win some games and show improvement playing a JV schedule bodes well for the Hawks in upcoming years. The Hawks are in their last week of the season and have two non-conference games left to play. The Hawks will host Minneapolis Roosevelt on 5/24 out on the Humboldt baseball diamond. This will be their last home game of the regular season. Additionally, they will travel to the north metro to play against PACT Charter School of Anoka. That game will be played on 5/25 at 4:00 PM at Enloe Park in Anoka. If you are coming from that part of the Metro, pop out to cheer on the Hawks!
Boys and Girls Golf
the Boys and Girls Golf team is entering post-season play this week with the Boys playing their conference tournament right now, and the girls playing theirs on Wednesday. Senior Stud Elliott Mcnally is unfortunately out of town for this tournament, however, his teammates are showing improvement and are ready to pick up the slack. On the girl's side, watch for Nina Mork to come in ready to play after shooting a great round this weekend as the ONLY student participant in the alumni golf tournament! Good luck to both teams!
Boys Volleyball
Boys volleyball has a busy week with their first conference home game being held in the Humboldt Main Gym at 5:30 PM against Harding High School on Tuesday 5/24 the Hawks dropped a close match with Minnehaha Academy last week which will hopefully light a fire underneath them to come out and perform against Harding. Watch for Junior Bee No to have a big day tomorrow!
