“Can” You Share the Love?
Our drive will run from February 3rd through the 14th. This year we will have a contest to see which classes can donate the most items. The winners from upper elementary and lower elementary will each earn a pizza party!
We would also like to set a school goal of collecting 500 items. If we are able to reach that goal, the whole school will earn an extra recess. Let's synergize and make this year's food drive a success!

Valentine's Day Sucker Sale to support Kids Against Hunger
This year the third graders will be having a Valentine Sucker Sale to help raise money for an amazing organization known as Kids Against Hunger.
Beginning Tuesday, February 4th through Wednesday, February 12th, students will have an opportunity to buy a Valentine sucker for a special valentine or valentines for only 50 cents!
Suckers will be sold before school and during lunch and will be delivered to your classrooms on Valentine's Day. Make sure to buy your suckers early, because once we run out, the sale will be over.
If you'd rather make a donation instead of buying suckers, that's an option too. It's a win-win! Give some love and show some love to help support our fundraiser for Kids Against Hunger!

Brownie Troop - Book Drive
The Silver Springs 3rd grade Girl Scout Brownie Troop is holding a children’s book drive
February 5-April 3. We are partnering with Rx for Reading Detroit to distribute the
books collected.
Rx for Reading Detroit is a non-profit literacy initiative that works to expand access to
children’s books and support families in reading with their children. They distribute
approximately 2,000 children’s books a month with the help of community partners,
including low-income health, dental, and WIC clinics, homeless shelters, local schools
and Head Start programs and community centers.
The girls have set a goal to collect 450 books. There are collection boxes in front of
the main office and in the library at the school. We are looking for all gently used
books from board books up to teenage level books. Please help us synergize to reach
our goal!
