Blazer Volleyball
Varsity girls played in the Baldwin Tournament Saturday coming out of pool play 2-1, beating Eudora and Wellsville, with a loss to Bonner Springs.
Tournament play the girls put up a fight but lost to Baldwin with the 2nd game being 28-26, in a crazy comeback for Baldwin. They ended the day with a win against Eudora in 2-0 and came out with a 3rd place finish!
Jaylyne Bell finished the day with 48 kills, 20 of which came against Wellsville and added 34 digs. Raven Boone had 29 kills on the day, and Gracen Mealman 28. Our libero Ava Bojanski had 49 digs on the day, and Kailana Chamnongchith had 32. Setters had a great day with a combined 113 assists.
Tuesday JV volleyball traveled to play Olathe Northwest. The Blazers started off slow and ended up dropping to Northwest 17-25 in the first game. The second game they battled back winning 26- 24. In the third game the girls fought really hard but came up short losing 13-15.
.
Leading the team in kills was Eleanor Marshall (5), leading the team in digs was Bailey O'sullivan (9) and leading the team in single blocks was Chloe Williams (3).
Tuesday night Varsity traveled to Olathe Northwest. The first two games they played tough, but fell short and lost the match 0-3. Outside hitter Jaylyne Bell had 12 kills, and middle hitter Raven Boone contributed 5. They had a tough blocking match up but were able to put away a few balls! Kailana Chimnongchith led the team with 10 assists.
On the defensive end DS Jadyn Padilla led the team with 12 digs. Libero Ava Bojanski added 10 digs and Ryleigh Sander, a junior setter had 8.
JV volleyball beat both Lawrence and Shawnee Mission Northwest Thursday night. The first game the girls won 25-16 and 25-13. Miah Mitthias lead the team with 5 kills, Kenslee Troutman lead the team with 4 digs, Chloe Williams lead the team with 3 single blocks and Aubrey Rhodes lead the team with 5 Assists.
The game against Shawnee Mission Northwest was more of a nail bitter. The girls won the first game 25-23 and SMNW won the second game 21-25. Finally the Blazers came together and beat a team in the third set. The girls won 15-13.
Paige Schesser lead the team with 7 kills and Bailey O'Sullivan lead the team with 10 digs.
Blazer Soccer
Tuesday night JV took on SMNW and got an early lead off a beautiful shot from Kayden Lashbrook. SMNW answered back a few minutes later for a 1-1 halftime score. The boys battled hard in the 2nd half but eventually fell 1-3.
Varsity took on the 3rd ranked team in the State in their respective class on Saturday as well. After they controlled the game in the first half against the wind, Louisburg snuck one in for a 1-0 halftime lead. The boys stayed composed and played their game, getting the equalizer from Gustavo Hernandez off a perfect split ball behind their backline from Landon Crump. Both teams had some chances in regulation to win it but we headed to OT instead. We got aggressive and pushed for the win right from the whistle, and ended the game a few minutes into OT off a header from Landcon Crump, assisted by a perfect ball from Hector Guevara.
Landon Crump ripped a shot just outside the 18 that froze their goalie, putting the Blazers up 1-0 ten minutes in. Unfortunately, a bad clearance out of the back saw us give them an easy one back almost immediately. The second half got away from the Blazers and after a few dive-ins, saw SMNW put in the game winner with under 10 minutes left.
