Dear Families and Community Members,

It is hard to believe that the 2016-2017 school year has come to a close. They say time flies when you are having fun and this year flew by with so much learning and enjoyment here at G.C.S.

I want to thank everyone for an amazing school year!

We want to thank Mrs. Carpenter for her 37 1/2 years of service here in Region 6, we will miss her very much!

Join me in welcoming two new teachers to our wonderful staff here at Goshen Center School. Mr. David Sirois, our new second-grade teacher, and Ms. Emily Stocker, our new kindergarten teacher.

I want to wish everyone a fabulous summer and enjoy some special time with your children!

Congratulations to our GCS Class of 2017 6th graders!!!

2017 Governor’s Summer Reading

The 2017 Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge is underway! !

Our school was among the top performing elementary schools last year! We had the privilege of sending four students to the CT State Library, where our school was recognized in an award ceremony by Governor Dannel P. Malloy! Let’s show everyone once again that G.C.S is a top performing school by READING this summer! We are hoping for 100% participation!

Below is a link to the website. A hard copy will be sent home as well.

Summer Garden Maintenance

Over the next few weeks, GCS students will be readying the beds, sowing seeds and transplanting plants into the Garden of Life for this year’s growing season!

Through sustainable, organic practices the garden brings life-long, authentic learning into the lives of our students who work hard to collaboratively bring the garden to life. Throughout the summer, the delicious, nutritious produce is enjoyed by those in need at area soup kitchens and food banks and by families maintaining the garden. Upon arrival back to school in the fall, students enjoy the freshly picked produce and the GCS community is invited to join us at our Harvest Luncheon to enjoy the dishes each class freshly prepared.

The outreach, celebrations, and success of the garden would not be possible without the help of families maintaining the garden during the summer.

We are seeking families to sign-up for one week. (Consider sharing the week with another family!) If your family is able to help, please fill out this form.

BOX TOPS

Please continue to clip Box Tops off your favorite products! Ten cents doesn't sound like much but they add up fast and help the PTO provide Enrichment opportunities for GCS students. If possible, ask other family members, co-workers and neighbors to collect them as well. This is a quick reminder that at the end of each month the classroom that has collected the most Box Tops gets a prize. See the below attachment for a list of products that have Box Tops on their labels.

A big thank you to our BTFE coordinators, Heike Robillard and Chrissy Steward.

Thank you!
