New Magazine in the Library
The library has subscribed to a new magazine that many of our students will be interested in reading. It is called Blaze Magazine: For Horse-Crazy Kids. We just received our first issue. Checkout more on it at www.blazekids.com
Our Fall Book Fair
Thank you to everyone who supported our Scholastic Book Fair this month. The library earned $2,000 that Mrs. Foreman will use to purchase new books for the library.
The Cost of "The 12 Days of Christmas"
Classes are learning a little bit of economics in the library this month as Mrs. Foreman shares with students the cost of buying each gift from "The 12 Days of Christmas". Students look at the cost of each item over the past 5 years and compare it to what it would cost to buy this year. Did you know that if you bought every present from the poem, you would purchase 364 presents at a cost of $155,407.18? That is an increase of 0.6% from last year. For information on how much each gift would cost, visit https://www.pncchristmaspriceindex.com/tour/.
Bluebonnet Voting in January
Students who have read at least five of this year's Bluebonnet books and have answered the questions from the library website will be able to vote for their favorite Bluebonnet book at the end of January. Right now we have seven students who are eligible to vote. The list of books can be found at https://texasbluebonnetaward2016.wordpress.com/. The questions students need to answer can be accessed at http://www2.pearlandisd.org/webpages/sforeman/index.cfm?subpage=52133.
