Straight From The Lions Mouth
September 18, 2021
It is a reality check to settling into routines and new schedules established at school and home. It no longer feels like "Summer paced" but instead, more rigorous and fast paced. What a tremendous adjustment for everyone. I hope all of our families had a good week and kids felt happy and tired ;) I know I did!
We had many accomplishments this past week. Many you heard from our Superintendent's newsletter : https://www.smore.com/yankv I wanted to speak directly to the distribution of chromebooks at the Cashman School. We were able to distribute chromebooks (gr.2 -4) and iPads (K-1) to classrooms so teachers and students have another tool for learning. Our district is asking that all parents sign the technology agreement and return it to our schools so you are aware of the level of expectations with your children having these devices. Students are being assigned their own devices and those will stay with them for a few years. It is important that at some level our little ones understand that, and families are fully aware of this process. We will be sure to teach our students to care for their devices and we appreciate your support once the time comes for them to be taking them home.
At this time, elementary students will not be carrying their devices back and forth. Their devices will stay in school.

The district's distribution plan is to offer brand new devices to students entering grades 2, and then again in grade 7. Devices are paired with grade levels based on technology lifespan, so students are receiving new devices at appropriate times.
BOOSTER another huge accomplishment last week. Our school community came together and raised over $40,000. for our students. This is mind blowing! I am so impressed with the program and everyone's commitment to supporting our students' education. In the grand scale of things, I am fully aware that this is so fortunate for our community,! Please know that this commitment is definitely a point of pride and gratitude in me. Thank you!
MASKS AND WATER:
Please continue to send your students to school with extra masks. Although we are able to support the unexpected, schools no longer have the inventory of masks to support all of our population and also budgetary are not prepared to continue to replenish on as needed basis. Your support is appreciate it.
Similarly, whenever possible, please remember to send your students to school with extra water. Our bubblers are still closed and we are juggling supply and demand.
Thank you!!
PARKING:
I would like to kindly ask that all of our families, when visiting Cashman, but having to park in front of our neighbors house, that you be mindful of not blocking mailboxes or driveways. As I would say to our students: we are safe, kind, and responsible with our community. It is hard work, but together we can do it.
Wishing for another great week.
Enjoy your Sunday,
Principal Mascia
