Compliance & Safety Training
2021-2022 Required Courses
The Why:
School safety is more important and complex than ever before. Each and every school employee is responsible for ensuring the highest level of safety and security is provided. In accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines and recommendations, GISD makes certain we are meeting the safety standards by requiring annual compliance & safety courses for all employees.
To accomplish this, GISD will use the SafeSchools platform.
SafeSchools
SafeSchools provides online, self-paced, and effective training that addresses compliance and safety needs. These trainings ensure that GISD staff members meet state and legal requirements and are fully equipped to create safe and secure environments for students across the district. Research proves, the safer the environment, the more successful the child!
2021-2022 Required SafeSchools Courses
The following SafeSchools safety and compliance courses are required for all GISD employees:
- Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Prevention
- CIPA: Compliance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act

IMPORTANT: Please note, SafeSchools courses will count for required compliance and safety training. Our department will run completion reports to ensure that every staff member has completed their SafeSchools courses no later than September 1.
Individuals may also choose to use these courses toward their exchange days. The courses total 3 hours of exchange time.
If you choose to complete these courses to use as a part of your exchange time, you will need to ensure the following:
- SafeSchols courses must be completed during the exchange day window - May 31 to July 30.
- SafeSchools courses must be completed on non-contract time. For employees on extended contracts (Ex. 226 days), courses must show a completion time/date stamp proving courses were completed during evenings and/or weekends.
- Certificates must be saved and uploaded to Strive in the form of an exchange day credit request. These courses WILL NOT automatically be counted into exchange day totals if these requests are not submitted.
