A Message from Marcie

Happy Friday, South Park!

We had a great 4-day week at South Park. Just a reminder that there is no school tomorrow, April 15th.

As we continue to plan for the 2022-23 school year, we wanted to let families know what to do if you know your child is not returning to South Park next year. If you have a current K-4th grade student who is not returning to our school next year, please complete this form as soon as possible. This information not only supports us with making class placements but knowing your child is moving allows us to prepare for your child's transition. Prior to your child's last day at South Park, we will prepare all records for transfer. As a reminder, our school office will not be open during the summer months. Please complete this form even if your child is transferring to another DPS109 school.

Wishing everyone a wonderful long weekend with family and loved ones.

South Park Read-a-Thon Begins on Monday!

We are excited to officially begin our Read-a-thon fundraiser on Monday. You will find this to be a very simple fundraiser. Our hope is that the Read-a-thon will help us raise funds to add a permanent Storywalk to the park grounds at South Park. Our temporary storywalks have been well-loved, and we look forward to making the feature a permanent installation.

This week, we sent home paperwork with your reader explaining how you will activate their personal Read-a-thon page. Your child also received a sticker to wear, letting you know the fundraiser is about to begin! By simply activating your reader’s personal page and using the promotional tools found there, friends and family anywhere in the world can show their support for your reader by making a donation to our Read-a-thon. Readers can qualify for fun prizes just by reading! Thank you for your support!

As part of our district's vision to develop students that are emotionally resilient, socially skilled, and academically prepared, DPS 109 invites our community, alongside our teachers, staff, and district administrators to watch the documentary "Chasing Childhood" and attend an optional discussion session on Tuesday, May 3rd.

The documentary will be available to watch on demand between April 21st and May 3rd for up to 1,000 people. Watch your inbox next Thursday for a link to the film and a link to sign up for the community discussion.
