Eastwood Academy Newsletter Summer Edition Vol. 1
What a year! As we wrap up these last two weeks of school, I want to thank every single of you for your patience, understanding, support, and love you've shown over this school year. It has been a rough one for Eastwood. We lost three teachers due to personal issues beyond the school's control, we had some students and staff lose loved ones near and dear, and a school closure right in the middle of AP exams! Despite these series of unfortunate events, the Eastwood community persisted.
We're proud to announce that we're ending the year on a high note. Here are just some of the wonderful celebrations we have to share.
- U.S. News & World Report ranked Eastwood Academy one of the top 100 (#97) schools in the nation, #23 in the nation among Charter Schools, #9 in the State of Texas, and #3 in HISD.
- Art Teacher Mr. Luis Perez was named Eastwood's Teacher of the Year.
- Principal Lira was named Principal of the Year in the East Area.

- 100% of Cyber Security students earned MTA Networking Certification.
- 100% of Cyber Security students earned 6 certifications from Texas A&M including Digital Forensics and Intro to Cyber Security Certification.

2019 STAAR Scores
Our STAAR scores are in for those students who tested this past spring 2019. We are so happy with the results. These outcomes are the product of the hard work and dedication our teachers and students demonstrated over the past year and half (since some were working towards the goal beginning in the summer). Congratulations to all of our students, teachers, and parents! You all should be so proud. Thank you for continuing Eastwood's legacy of producing high-achieving, academic-minded students.
