Continuing TAG's focus on the impacts of school closures in Philadelphia that began with “Witnessing reForm”, TAG has arranged for $10 tickets to a new play about the closure of a Chicago school and TAG member Sam Reed will participate in a panel discussing the play on February 9.
From January 29 to February 28, the Philadelphia Theater Company is hosting the east-coast premiere of “Exit Strategy” at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre. In “Exit Strategy”, Ike Holter turns his piercing eye to a dilapidated public school in Chicago targeted for closure and the power struggles that ensue among the faculty and students desperate to keep it open. This superb, thrilling play earned raves from Chicago audiences and critics alike.
On February 9, there will be a panel titled: “Schooled: Are We Learning Our Lesson About Education in Philadelphia?” after the 6:30pm performance. Kevin McCorry, WHYY/ Newsworks’ senior education reporter will moderate the panel, and TAG’s own Sam Reed will participate along with Jeff Hornstein of Queen Village Neighbors Association and Claire Robertson-Kraft of PhillyCORE Leaders
