in a safe, nurturing environment by communicating, collaborating and congratulating!

APEX Fun Run!!

The Apex Fun Run was a great! Everyone had such a fun time. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped. Thank you to those who came out to cheer for the students. Thank you for supporting our Meadow Creek PTA!

Information about collecting the pledges was sent home today with the students. PTA and the teachers really appreciate your support to help them with supplies and new things for our school!

Parent Survey

We only have a few more days that the window to complete the survey is open!

The annual parent/community survey can be found on the HEB ISD Home Page or a paper copy was sent home last week.

Please take a minute to complete the survey. We really appreciate your feedback and you thoughts!

The deadline to complete the survey is February 2.

Look for a "thank you" coupon from your child's teacher if you let us know that you were able to complete the survey!

Thank you!

Dolphin Choir present "Magic"

Our 5th and 6th grade Dolphin Choir presents its spring performance of "Magic" on Thursday, February 4 at 6:30 PM. Please join us for the amazing production and see the talents of our very own students!

Valentine's Day Classroom Parties

Our classroom Valentine's Day parties will be on Friday, February 12 at 2:00.

If you are planning to attend the parties, please be sure that you have completed an on-line HEB background check. You can do this by going to the HEB ISD Home Page and click on the link to Volunteers. The process takes about 8 minutes to complete and when you are done, you will get a volunteer ID number. Background checks are good for one from the last date you completed it. By having your background check completed, it will make signing in on the day of the party go much faster!

All Pro Dad Breakfast

Our next All Pro Dads' Breakfast is Friday, February 5 at 7:00 AM. All Dads, Uncles, Grandfathers, Stepdad and other important people are invited to join your child at this event. It is a special time to spend together and it gives you a chance to meet other Meadow Creek families! See you Friday for breakfast!

Notes from the Nurse

Because your child’s safety is our top priority, let me clarify the HEB guidelines for outdoor activity during cold weather. We understand the importance of physical activity for our students. “However, it is recommended that certain activities be limited or revised during those times when negative health or safety consequences are most likely to occur.” The HEB Guidelines for Cold Weather are as follows:

  • Students should not play outside when the temperature or wind chill drops below 36 degrees.

  • Wind chill is the apparent air temperature felt on EXPOSED SKIN due to air.

  • On days when the temperature is unseasonably cold, outside time should be restricted to 15 minutes.

  • Students who are inappropriately dressed for the cooler weather should remain indoors.

Due to the guidelines from the district, students are not allowed outside wearing shorts or without a jacket if the temperature (actual or wind chill) is below 50 degrees. Please be sure your children are dressed appropriately for the weather so they are not required to stay indoors on these days.

2016-2017 Transfer Forms and Spanish Immersion Applications

The window to turn in forms for a transfer to another HEB school is January 4 through February 29. This is the same window that we accept applications for our Spanish Immersion program that begins in first grade. If you have any questions about these processes, please contact us at 817-354-3500.

We hope that our kindergarten families will consider the Spanish Immersion program next year in first grade. It is an excellent Schools of Choice program. Meadow Creek is one of three HEB schools to offer Spanish Immersion. The program starts in first grade and continues through sixth grade. Students are taught in Spanish and experience the language through immersion. It is amazing to see how quickly the students learn to understand, speak and read in first grade! Please contact us if you would like more information!

HEB offers other Schools of Choice programs such as Suzuki String and World Languages. If you are interested in one of these programs at another HEB school, be sure to complete a transfer form and submit it to the campus that you are wanting to attend before February 29.

Bluebonnet Voting

We are so proud of our 3rd-6th grade students! 100% of 3rd-6th grade students read or listened to at least 5 of the books on the Bluebonnet list. That meant they were eligible to vote for the winner. We had 423 students vote this week and enjoy a celebration in the library. PTA helps to sponsor this fun event and the students enjoy it very much. Meadow Creek students' favorite was "The Lost Planet." We will have to wait to see what the winner was from across Texas!

Thank you Mrs. Ray for encouraging our students to be readers!
