Reporting COVID Positive Cases to School
If your D103 student has tested positive for COVID during Winter Break, please contact the hotline immediately at covidhotline@d103.org or call 847-457-9314. Please provide the following information:
Student’s first name and last name
Child’s grade
Parent email and phone number
Date of positive COVID test
Type of COVID test administered
D103 school personnel will get back to you as soon as possible for the next steps to take regarding the COVID positive test.
We are looking forward to seeing our students again on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. Before returning to school, we recommend your child receive a COVID test (either PCR or antigen). The District will resume its free weekly PCR testing process on Tuesday.
How to Sign Up for D103 Weekly COVID-19 Testing
D103 offers free weekly PCR testing through O’Hare Clinical labs. Testing is voluntary and requires consent to participate. We encourage everyone to sign up to take the weekly test, whether your student is vaccinated or not. If a child were to test positive, your child would need to isolate and follow the guidelines listed in the IDPH Interim Exclusion Guidance. If your child is found to be a close contact, District 103 will consult with the Lake County Health Department and follow the options listed in the IDPH Revised Public Guidance for Schools.
For information on testing, please refer to the below documents.
Consent Form - Please log into your child’s Unified Classroom account to access the digital form to give consent for both the PCR and BinaxNow tests. This short video will provide you with step-by-step directions for completing the form.
Watch the brief videos in Google Docs or on our D103 YouTube channel for instructions on using the PCR testing
Remote Learning Clarification
In-person learning will begin on January 4. The District will not have optional remote learning as we begin school. Remote learning will be available to students who test positive for COVID or close contacts who are not eligible for Test to Stay. This procedure follows the guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education and the Illinois Department of Public Health. We will continue to work with the Lake County Health Department regarding the status of COVID in our community and make adjustments as necessary.
COVID Testing Schedule in January
The COVID testing schedule in January will be modified to accommodate the two Mondays with no school.
Board of Education Meeting
The next Board of Education meeting will occur at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11. The notice and agenda can be found on the District 103 Board meeting website page.
