Wild things in Reception
Mini-beasts in Nursery!
The children have created some wonderful pictures and are excited about the larvae emerging into butterflies.
Could your son or daughter be a Cathedral Chorister?
Dr Krippner, the new Director of Music at Ripon Cathedral, will be visiting our school to talk to the children during an assembly about the Choristers of Ripon Cathedral and how to become a Cathedral Chorister. All interested children are invited to see Dr Krippner after the assembly for an informal audition. Being a chorister is an outstanding opportunity, so it is very much worth considering! Dr Krippner will visit us on Thursday 19th May at 10.15am. Meanwhile, do have a look at the Cathedral’s new chorister recruitment video:
well done Year 6!
Well Done Year 5 too!
Exploring Plants
Classifying Plants in Year 1
This week, Year 1 went on a walk around Ripon to investigate which wild plants are common in the local area. The children enjoyed finding out the names of different plants and tallying how many of these we could see. Back in class, the children used their knowledge to identify and classify the plants we had seen based on certain characteristics e.g. leaf shape, colour, size. They had lots of fun looking at different plants and finding out about some they hadn’t heard of before.
Observing how plants grow in Year 2
Learning about pollination Year 3
Year 3 have been learning about Plants this week. We have been learning about pollination and fertilisation of plants, understanding how new seeds are formed. We dissected a tulip to explore the different parts of the flower and learn about their function. We then used our dissected to flower to help explain the process of pollination and fertilisation to our partner.

In Reception the children have been thinking about our wonderful world. With the help of Lola they asked the school the question 'How can we make our world a cleaner place to live?'
