How to differentiate with Google Classroom
Now you can individualize assignments for students. You can provide struggling students access to extra resources for remediation while providing extension activities to students who have mastered the concept.
1. Open a class in Google Classroom
2. Hover over the + button in the bottom right hand corner
3. Create an announcement, question or assignment
4. Click on all students and a drop down menu shows all the students in the class. Check and un-check the students you want to complete the assignment. Only the selected students will receive the assignment.
How to differentiate by adding resources
All students learn in a multitude of ways. You can add files from your computer, Google Drive, YouTube videos, audio files, and weblinks. Resources could include games, songs, infographics, hyperdocs, slideshows, etc.
Add some variety to the students' final products
Let students show their genius by allowing them to choose the format for their final product. Who wants to grade 100 cookie cutter projects? By allowing choice, the students will be more invested and interested in their learning. Students can upload their product or share a link with you in Google Classroom. Below you will find a link to a document listing a multitude of tech tools. Need help? Please see Mrs. Cooper. She loves this stuff!!!
The Add button allows students to submit a weblink, doc, or file as their final product.
The Create button allows students to make and submit Google docs, sheets, slides and drawings.
Bonus: How to make an ebook in Google Slides
