Mr. Beasley and I are eager to get into the classrooms with you. Please let us know when a good time for co-teaching would be. #learningisasharedresponsibility

MAKING OUR MARK! Way to go students & teachers!

Sustained Silent Reading
I hope everyone has been enjoying our Sustained Silent Reading time! The students that I've chatted with have all expressed their excitement about being able to choose a book and read first thing in the morning. One student told me that at first she wasn't sure she was going to like it .... but, "the time goes by so fast! I don't want to close my book when the teacher tells us it's time to stop!" Score! That is exactly what we want for our kids. One of the greatest things we can do for our students is to model the love of reading for them. Those of us without a classroom will be joining your classes so that our students will see all of us reading during this time. The attached article has some strategies to make the most out of your SSR time.
Inclusion
At this point in the year, you should have knowledge of your special education students' accommodations as well as behavior intervention plans, if applicable. Our inclusion teachers have been working hard to manipulate their schedules in an effort to ensure all students are receiving their services. We will have co-teaching training in the near future. If you have an inclusion teacher that comes to your classroom, please be sure there is a place for her to provide small group instruction. As you are creating your weekly lesson plans, be sure to include how the inclusion teacher will be instructing in the classroom.

United Way
As a district, we are shooting for 100% participation this year for the United Way campaign. You are considered a participant regardless of the amount of money you donate. The school that donates the most based on the percentage of participants will be rewarded as a staff. If you donate at least $20, you will receive 4 jean passes!
Please complete your form and return it to Mr. Beasley by Wednesday, August 28.
Suicide Prevention Walk
We would like to form a group to participate in the Out of the Darkness Walk scheduled for September 14, 2019. When you walk in the Out of the Darkness Walk, you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.
