Create a Routine!
Routines and structure are an essential to shaping your day. Once you and your children have identified the subjects they will study, make a schedule and display it so everyone in the family knows what's coming and when it's over. Work with your child to create the routine and try your best to stick with it!
This routine pictured does an excellent job at building in breaks and making time for your child to go outside, get fresh air and play. Most kids work off a schedule in their classrooms, so recreating something similar at home can ease the transition to a different learning environment and actually decrease stress.
Creating a Physical Workspace!
Think about spaces that are best for working and learning—sharing these spaces can be challenging. Try to carve out a corner or counter space for your child to work with minimal distractions. Work stations should have supplies on hand and distractions should be kept to a minimum. If possible try to have a space where supervision is available. Have a small space? Get creative. Great workspaces can be made in the hallway, kitchen etc.
Supporting your Learner!
Key Tips!
*Parents are legitimately balancing their children’s educational needs while maintaining their own sanity. Experts say a key tip for parents is to recognize what level your child is on and not push them past their limits. Also, parents should remember that a home is not a school, and it should remain your child’s place of peace and safety.
*Know that we are all in this together!!
