Makerspace is Ready To Go!

All SMS students attended an orientation in December, and Makerspace is opening this week!

What is a Makerspace?

A Makerspace is a place where students gather and often work collaboratively to "make things." Materials and resources are provided. Materials may be "high-tech" such as 3-D Printers, digital cutters, electronic circuitry kits, and video production materials "Low-tech" materials available include craft supplies, fabric, and building toys just to name a few. Emphasis is placed on creativity, collaboration, innovation, and problem solving. Maker activities support learning targets in all content areas.

As we begin our Makerspace creation as Strongsville Middle School we are looking for donations of materials you may have available in your home.

Makerspace Wishlist:

  • Legos
  • K'NEX
  • Other Building Toys/Materials
  • Craft Supplies
  • Colored paper, scrapbook paper, and cardstock
  • Fabric
  • Fabric Paint and Markers
  • Plastic Containers for Storage (with or without lids)
Thanks in advance for your donations! Materials can be sent in with your student (have them drop off at the media center), or you may drop off donations in the school office and tell them it is for the Makerspace.
