First Grade Happenings

Week of February 15th - 19th

Curriculum topics

This week we will be out of school on Monday celebrating President's Day and then will begin learning about strategies for solving word problems with results unknown. We will focus on the water cycle and create projects that revolve around two famous Presidents. We will also start a poetry unit in ELAR>

Reading and Writing Fun!

We will be studying poetry and learn about rhyme and repetition in poetry as well as how poems use phrasing. We will use the Shel Silverstein poems Ouch, Band-aids, and Crocodile's Toothache as we seek to understand what the author is trying to tell us. We will look at the poem and determine what is important and provide evidence of that by looking back at the poem. We will also be writing sensory poems about holidays!

Ms. Lewis' Mouseketeers

We are a group of mouseketeers that love the magic of learning!
