Zemaitis Health and Wellness
October Newsletter
October is National Chiropractic Month!
Back pain remains one of the most prevalent and disabling conditions worldwide. It is one of the most common reasons that patients visit their doctors, and one of the most common conditions for which doctors prescribe opioid pain medications. Since the overuse and abuse of prescription opioid painkillers in the United States remains a top public health problem, it’s essential for health care consumers and providers to understand that spinal manipulation and other conservative approaches can get you moving by treating musculoskeletal conditions such as low back pain safely and effectively.
We will be posting facts, figures, exercises and more throughout the month on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. If you have not already done so, like Zemaitis Health and Wellness on Facebook, follow drpattyz on Instagram, and @drpattyz on Twiter.

October Recipe: Instant Pot Mushroom Risotto
INGREDIENTS:
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 onion, diced
8 ounces cremini mushrooms, thinly sliced
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
2 cups chicken broth
1 cup arborio rice
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
2 cups baby spinach
3/4 cup frozen peas, thawed
1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan
DIRECTIONS:
1.Set a 6-qt Instant Pot® to the high saute setting. Melt 2 tablespoons butter; add garlic and onion, and cook, stirring often, until onions have become translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
2.Add mushrooms and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender, about 3-4 minutes; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
3.Stir in chicken broth, rice and thyme. Select manual setting; adjust pressure to high, and set time for 6 minutes. When finished cooking, quick-release pressure according to manufacturer’s directions.
4.Stir in spinach and remaining 2 tablespoons butter until the spinach has wilted, about 2 minutes. Stir in peas and Parmesan until heated through, about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
5.Serve immediately.
Meet our Associates
In each location that Dr. Patty practices in, there are other types of professionals practicing and we wanted to shine a spotlight on them. This month we want to introduce Dr. Christina Samycia, PsyD.
Dr. Christina holds a doctorate in Clinical Psychology, a masters degree in Kinesiology and is the author of Discovering Inner Peace. She seeks to inspire and challenge individuals to discover their authentic selves and lead a more meaningful and spiritual life. She works with individuals who are interested in personal and spiritual growth, looking to enhance their lives and are ready to make life-altering changes. She has over ten years of experience as a psychologist in Chicago. She is eclectic in her approach and utilizes insight-oriented, existential, psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral interventions in combination with neuro-emotional technique (NET) and hypnosis. She emphasizes mindfulness and a mind-body approach. Her method is unique and impactful because she assists in uncovering and releasing conscious and subconscious patterns and belief systems that trigger emotional responses and keeps us stuck in dysfunctional behaviors. She believes that in order to transcend our emotional pain and make permanent lifestyle change, it is important to work on the conscious, subconscious and energetic levels. Her specialties include depression, anxiety, mood disorders, relationship issues, trauma, as well as working with individuals who are highly sensitive, introverted and/or intuitive.
Dr .Christina is in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Medicare. She does accept other insurances but is considered out of network. Appointment can be made by calling 312-285-5287.
